  1. Demonstrate and assert the value of neurology and brain health to policymakers, patients, the public, and other major stakeholders
  2. Grow the neurology workforce and innovate care delivery to meet the future needs for patient care
  3. Demonstrate and communicate our commitment to being a fully inclusive, diverse, and antiracist organization that promotes neurologic health equity and actively works to recruit and support a diverse membership
  4. Ensure the health of the global neurology community and enhance member satisfaction, well-being and resiliency, and engagement
  5. Advocate and support the financial well-being, continuing viability, and innovation of the practice of neurology
  6. Expand and support neuroscience research
  7. Create novel ways to educate and assist members in providing high-value, team­ based, patient-centered, clinical care

The AAN, founded in Minneapolis in 1948, supports and represents more than 40,000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals worldwide who provide crucial patient care, seek new cures and treatments for brain disease and work to ensure patient access to the right care. Our headquarters is in the historic Mill District of downtown Minneapolis, and our public policy office is near the action on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.

The AAN works closely with the American Brain Foundation, housed in the Academy’s headquarters.
