Job Posting Title: Supervisor, Safety & Quality (Warehouse)

Time Type: Full Time

The Safety and Quality Supervisor is a visible leadership and development role. This individual is responsible for supporting the safety, quality, security, and facility maintenance. The Safety and Quality Supervisor will report to the site General Manager. This role supports local continuous improvement activities, document controls, safety programs, TSA security and ISO activities. He/she will also ensure that the operation adheres to the overall corporate mission, vision, and core values while consistently meeting client and company expectations.

As part of the DSV team, Associates are expected to meet company objectives in the areas of performance, safety, and quality. Associates are expected to comply with all corporate and site-specific policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety



  • Responsible for the overall safety and security of assigned facility, operations and staff for the site.
  • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements for the site.
  • Maintain positive IFR statistics and other safety metrics for assigned location/operation
  • Actively supports and oversees site safety program and committee for the operation in accordance with DSV standards.
  • Provides safety training and coaching to site employees to ensure technical competence and regulatory compliance.
  • Work in conjunction with company and client safety resources to ensure best practices are in place, maintained, and updated as needed to meet compliance standards with OSHA, DOT, TSA or any other relevant regulatory agency or organization
  • Meet all regulatory chemical reporting requirements for site inventory
  • Conduct safety and environmental incident and near-miss investigations, determine root causes, identify corrective actions to prevent re-occurrences and record into appropriate tracking database(s)
  • Conduct HSE audits and assessments of on-going operations to measure compliance with regulatory requirements and conformance to company policies


Quality



  • Maintains compliance to international, industry and customer-specific quality standards.
  • Leads and individually performs as needed, the analysis of product/service issues to determine root causes.
  • Manages and communicates change control processes to all departments.
  • Responsible for the coordination of internal and external auditing plus maintaining the internal quality audit system.
  • Assists in implementation and monitoring of the company quality systems including, but not limited to, compliance with the following standards: ISO 9001:2008
  • Assists in establishment, implementation and evaluation of quality management system metrics.
  • Provides guidance and support for both customer service and quality departments assisting with problem solving and improvement opportunities.
  • Manages customer driven continual improvement roadmaps.
  • Develops and conducts training on the quality system and other related topics
  • Oversees document control; updating, creating and publishing controlled documents including sending change notifications to effected parties/departments and follows up on the Quality Management System.
  • Develops and implements administrative systems including record management, traceability, and trend reporting.


Security



  • Manage and ensure compliance, as it pertains to the TSA program by means of a partnership with the sites, utilizing interpretation of regulations, education, self-assessments, audits and written improvement plans.
  • Manage security systems and security program elements.
  • Conduct assessments, reviews and inspections to ensure adherence to corporate polices and standards, regulatory compliance and loss reduction.
  • Provide direction and assist site business partners and stakeholders in conducting and coordinating training for general security and TSA compliance programs to ensure objectives are met and sustained.
  • Manage and ensure TSA regulatory training and self-assessments, Security Threat Assessments (STA) and ensure that systemic data is up to date and verifiable.
  • Conduct monthly meeting with screening vendor to ensure operational excellence and compliance.
  • Manage operational efficiency of TSA screening equipment according to TSA Standards.
  • Ensure operational compliance with DSV screening SOPs.
  • Ensure that security systems are inspected, tested and serviced according to security standards.
  • Conduct security audits to ensure compliance with company, governmental regulatory policies, procedures and client contractual agreements.
  • Ensure facilities are following DSV Security Standards. (NASS)
  • Maintain and or establish professional relationship(s) with industry officials/ law enforcement.
  • Promote security awareness coach and provide guidance to employees.
  • Perform other security duties as required.


Facility Maintenance



  • Accountable for overseeing the upkeep of the facility, security and material handling equipment.
  • Schedule regular maintenance to ensure the facility meets regulatory compliance.
  • Sets goals to provide continuous improvement for assigned site


Operation & Labor Management



  • Actively supports and practices mentoring, succession planning, and management development activities at the site level.


Budgeting



  • Identifies cost improvement initiatives, which generate positive results to the assigned operation EBIT
  • Develops and manages a system of controls to ensure that service levels and operational performance goals are met within prescribed cost, revenue, and profit parameters for the operation


Customer Service



  • Monitors KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for respective area of accountability


OTHER DUTIES



  • Communicates all problems and questions to site leadership and implements solutions to minimize risk.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Responsible for all equipment, supplies, documents, and materials related to job.
  • Responsible for following all DSV policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Communicates with all levels of staff and the public as appropriate to the job.
  • Work overtime as dictated by business whether mandatory or voluntary.


MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:



  • High school diploma of GED is required
  • 3 years' experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment
  • Prior experience in safety observations/inspections, developing and implementing compliance strategies and plans.
  • Knowledge of safety and health management systems and practices.
  • Preferred: Prior MHE certification / knowledge of basic MHE operation


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations

* Able to pass TSA Security Treat Assessment (STA)

* Able to pass Transportation Security Training Requirements and recertify annually.

* Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Computer Skills



  • Basic understanding of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems)
  • Strong proficiency in basic MS Office applications


Language Skills



  • English (reading, writing, verbal)


Mathematical Skills



  • Intermediate as needed for financials/budgeting


Other Skills



  • Strong attention to detail accuracy and accomplish job tasks in a timely manner
  • Good organizational and personnel skills
  • Good communication skills, written and oral
  • Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
  • Able to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required by the operation
  • Participate in established cross training metrics activities with the opportunity to improve their knowledge in multiple areas/departments and be able to assist as a back-up when the need may arise.
  • Must be able to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during the warmer and colder months can range from mild to moderate.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • 4-Year College Degree preferred, will consider equivalent experience or combination of education and experience
  • 3PL management experience strongly preferred



Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $68,000.00 - $74,000.00 per year
