Master Electrician - Manufacturing Plants

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment across multiple plants.
  • Ensure compliance with national and local electrical codes, safety standards, and regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of electrical systems to identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Lead and mentor a team of electricians and electrical technicians at various locations.
  • Coordinate and prioritize electrical maintenance and repair activities to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Collaborate with plant managers and other departments to align electrical needs with overall plant operations.
  • Manage electrical projects, including upgrades, installations, and system improvements.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets; monitor progress and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Source and manage relationships with electrical contractors and vendors.
  • Provide expert troubleshooting support for complex electrical issues and system failures.
  • Develop and implement effective solutions to prevent recurrence of electrical problems.
  • Analyze and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and practices, including lockout/tagout procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Conduct safety training and workshops for electrical staff and other personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and compliance documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.
  • Drive initiatives for energy efficiency and sustainability across all plant facilities.
  • Assess the current state of electrical systems and infrastructure across all plant locations.
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend actionable solutions to enhance system performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Implement strategies to address identified issues and oversee necessary upgrades or modifications.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive electrical safety program, ensuring the implementation of best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and enforce a Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program to ensure the safe isolation of electrical sources during maintenance and repair activities.
  • Regularly review and update safety protocols, training materials, and procedures to reflect changes in regulations and industry standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or GED required

    • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred.


  • Licensing/Certifications: Journeyman and/or Master Electrician license required; additional certifications in industrial electrical systems or project management (e.g., PMP) are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial electrical work, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role overseeing multiple locations.



TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS



  • Up to 50% travel required to visit and oversee electrical operations at multiple plant locations including but not limited to Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa and Tennessee. Travel may exceed 50% at times. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Standard office environment
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach
  • Ability to work extended hours sitting at a computer
