Avionics Technicians (LEVELS I-III)

We are seeking a highly skilled Avionics Integration Technicians to join our dynamic team of experts. Your role will involve fabricating, inspecting, and testing avionics assembly's integral to our various spaceflight systems.

Positions are 6-24 month contract-to-hire opportunities. This position is expected to be 100% onsite with less then 20% travel. Any work location outside home base (more then 50 Miles) would be reimbursed with local GSA rates. Roles would start in a shop environment on the SPACE COAST or WESTERN FLORIDA and transition into the field at KENNEDY SPACE CENTER

Position Overview/Job Summary:

Avionics Technicians I-Ill are responsible for fabricating wire harnesses and cables used in electrical and electronic equipment systems for space system components for the Artemis programs. Technicians are also responsible for assembling of complex electromechanical projects

As the Avionics Technician, your contributions will be critical to ensuring safe, consistent, and groundbreaking advancements in human spaceflight.

Key Responsibilities (responsibilities include but are not limited to):

* Performing installation of avionic components and systems, ensuring operational reliability and adherence to design specifications.

* Reads instructions, such as work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly

* Mount and install components, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), relays, contactors, switches and terminal blocks in panel enclosures. Assembles cables, buses, and electromechanical systems

* Read instructions such as work orders, diagrams and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly

* Measures, cuts, solders and or crimps wire and contacts to fabricate wire harness

* Conduct detailed installations, including intricate cable harness configurations, ensuring all avionic installations meet safety and quality standards

* Inspect, test and verify avionics assemblies against technical models, drawings, specification and work instructions.

* Troubleshoot avionic system issues, carrying out necessary modifications, rework, repairs or maintenance to resolve malfunctions

* Ensure the optimal function of avionics systems by conducting thorough inspections, cleanings, measurements and testing activities

* Understand and adheres to quality management systems standards, requirements and procedures

* Collaborate with teams to perform in-field harness installations

* Spearhead continuous improvement efforts in avionic installation processes, prioritizing safety and operational efficiency.

* Maintain a collaborative team environment, effectively balancing multiple priorities and adapting to rapidly evolving project needs.

* Treat all team members with respect and dignity ensuring a collaborative culture is continually developed and maintained

Basic Qualifications:

o High school diploma or GED

o Must be a US Citizen or Perm Resident of the U.S.

o Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment and education.

o Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a shop and construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing in very small and/or confined spaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs.

o Associate degree in related field preferred. Experience in lieu of college education will be considered.

o Three (3+) years' experience as an electrical/cable fabrication technician or other relevant industry experience. Applicants with experience that exceed the minimum may be considered for a higher-level Avionics Technician position.

Minimum Qualifications:

o Previous Experience working with wire crimping and connector soldering & experience with engineering drawings, wire diagrams, and electrical schematics

o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/365 including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.

o Experience with avionics manufacturing and operation of related test equipment. Proficiency in harsh environment cable harness assembly procedures.

o Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

o Familiarity with industry standards such as IPC/ WHMA-A-620, MIL-DTL-22520, NASA-STD-8739, J-STD-001, and ANSI/ESD S20.20.

o Proficient in using measurement tools and understanding basic math concepts.

o Commitment to providing the highest quality products and services that meet or exceed the requirements and expectations of our customer, actively pursuing opportunities for continual improvements of service quality.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

o Further technical training or industry certification preferred. Any trade school training and/or degree in related field or previous military experience

o A minimum of 5-10 years in a manufacturing role in aerospace or similar industry, with a focus on avionics or harness fabrication.

o Proven success as a "hands-on" technical leader

o Work optimally with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities

o Electromechanical systems and assembly background.

o IPC J-Std-001 and/or IPC-620 certification, NASA space addendum 8739.4 certified.

o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

o Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix problems that may arise.

o Ability to collaborate with many different teams/individuals to reach a common goal by building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation maintaining positive and professional relationships, and contributing to a culture of inclusion

Shift/Schedule

* This position is for the day shift generally working 7:00am - 5:30pm, which includes two 15-minute break and 30-minute unpaid lunch.#ZR
