Air Products has an immediate opportunity for a Southcentral Microbulk Sales Supervisor. This position will be based out of our Houston, TX Sales Office. Working hybrid (ex. going into the office once a week or once every other week).

The Southcentral Microbulk Sales Supervisor will report to the South Central US Area Sales Manager and be responsible for driving outstanding sales performance for a significant area within the TX, OK and LA Regions by mentoring and developing their direct reports. There will be five to six Micro Bulk Sales Representatives that report to this position.

Duties & Responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  • The primary responsibilities include hiring, training, managing, coaching, and mentoring the Sales team to achieve geographic sales budget objectives, specifically, new business signings, price management targets, and account management.

  • Ability to work independently, with excellent listening skills and assisting the Sales Representatives in making sales calls in a fast-paced environment.

  • This will be a fast-paced sales leadership position in a multifaceted business offering cryogenic industrial gases (e.g., nitrogen, oxygen, argon, and carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and helium) which are sold to a wide variety of market segments including metals fabrication, hospitals, life sciences, laboratories, food packagers, and general industrial sites.

  • This position will partner closely with key stakeholders including Field Sales, Strategic Account Managers (SAMs), Business Management, Commercial Technology, Central Sales, Asset Management, Engineering and Logistics.

  • The chosen candidate will possess a sound strategic attitude, field leadership capabilities, the ability to lead and encourage cross functional teams, outstanding influencing skills and a proven track record of driving growth and managing execution through their team.

  • Finding and signing New to Market business is a key function of this role.

  • This is a high-visibility leadership position and provides an outstanding platform for personal and professional growth.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement sales strategies within the area using resources and assets to provide Air Products with competitive advantages.

  • Grow profitability and market share through new business development and signings, contract renewal signings and meeting or exceeding pricing targets.

  • Co-develop and/or strengthen sales force processes and capabilities across the team, bringing outside experiences and standard processes to improve team performance.

  • Lead and participate in full life cycle of sales, including but not limited to prospecting, pricing, lead generating, presentations, negotiations, in person client meetings, proposal writing, relationship building, closing and account management.

  • Maintain an active presence in the field (50-75%+ of the time) mentoring, coaching, and developing field sales Microbulk representatives.

  • Apply strong cross-functional solid understanding of Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, Commercial Technology, Industry segments, Legal, Operations and Logistics. Drive success at the customer by using an extended team that includes SAMs, Liquid Bulk Account Managers, Commercial Technology, Business Managers, Central Sales, Asset Management, Engineering, and Logistics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5+ years of previous commercial experience in sales, sales management, and/or product management. High potential individual

  • Strong leadership, selling, customer focus, relationship, influencing and communication skills.

  • Experience/Demonstrated ability leading teams and managing people. Managing 5 direct reports.

  • Valid Drivers' License and good driving record required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Industrial Gasses preferred.

Work Hours/Travel Requirements:

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday

  • Typical Hours: Business Hours

  • Work Model: wfh/remote/travel

  • Typical Travel %: Maintain an active presence in the field (50-75%+ of the time) mentoring, coaching, and developing field sales Microbulk representatives.

  • Typical Travel Locations: ex: within Texas & Louisiana and ~100-200 miles off plants bordering TX & LA.
