Job Summary:



The Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, seeks a clinician-educator that is committed to a career as a clinician practicing and teaching palliative medicine with the Palliative Care Service, nationally recognized by the Joint Commission Advanced Certification in Palliative Care for over a decade. Full-time and part-time positions will be considered at the Instructor, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor faculty rank.

Clinical duties include attending on the Palliative Care Consult Service and/or the Palliative Care Clinic at the UCHealth Anschutz Medical Campus. Teaching activities may include leading formal/informal teaching sessions. Academic responsibilities may include active participation in palliative care quality improvement initiatives or other scholarly activities.

The clinician-educator will have opportunity for academic promotion judged on criteria of demonstrated excellence as a clinician, educator and scholar.



Work Location:



Onsite - This role is expected to work onsite and is located in the Denver Metro area.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Faculty Rank is dependent upon years of experience, fellowships completed, board certification and candidate's preference on committing to a tenure track. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Non-Tenured Track

Instructor:



  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Certified or Board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
  • 0-7 years of experience practicing in palliative medicine
  • Current State of Colorado Medical License by the employment start date
  • Current, unrestricted DEA registration


Tenured Track

Assistant Professor:



  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Certified or Board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
  • 0-7 years of experience practicing palliative medicine
  • Current State of Colorado Medical License by the employment start date
  • Current, unrestricted DEA registration


*Associate Professor:



  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Certified or Board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
  • 7 or more years of experience practicing palliative medicine
  • Current State of Colorado Medical License by the employment start date
  • Current, unrestricted DEA registration
  • Rank of Associate Professor, or equivalent, already attained at a prior academic institution


*School of Medicine faculty appointed to the level of Associate Professor is subject to review and approval of the School of Medicine Faculty Promotions Committee and the Executive Committee. The term "visiting" will be used in the faculty member's title (e.g., "Visiting Associate Professor") until the dossier has been approved by these committees.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • 0-7 years' experience as an MD or DO

    • Fellowship experience will be considered under years' experience

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position at 1.0 FTE has been established as:

Instructor: $200,000 - $223,000

Assistant Professor: $200,000 - $223,000

Associate Professor: $229,000 - $245,000

Salaries would be prorated for any part-time FTE. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
