Molex is seeking an experienced Sourcing and Procurement or Engineering professional to help control our new product BOM and product sustaining Sourcing activity for primary production category costs through strategy development and timely implementation. As Sourcing Engineer, you will be responsible to apply the appropriate category strategies, identify and contract with suppliers and manage BOM line item costs through Product Launch. You will serve as the sourcing single point of contact for the product development teams supporting the sourcing activities of all BOM line items for assigned product development projects.

Our Team

This role reports to the Sourcing Manager and will support the Molex Naperville Operation Manufacturing Printed Circuit Solutions (PCS) & Optical Connectivity business segment products of our Enabling Solution Business Unit (ESBU) and Datacom & Specialty Solutions (DSS) division.

What You Will Do

* Develop and execute the sourcing process for new suppliers, materials, components and services for the ES BU.

* Build and maintain technical understanding of the products, categories purchased, and supplier capabilities
* Partner with Molex design teams throughout Product Development Process (PDP) to drive lowest total cost of the BOM (Design for Architectural Cost)
* Bring "Design to Value" (manufacturing, quality, cost, etc.) viewpoint to Product design team
* Ensure critical milestones are met and Procurement deliverables are completed on schedule, including but not limited to Design for Procurement, Supply Chain & Time to Market.
* Conduct should-cost and make vs. buy analyses to support sourcing decisions
* Strive to improve New Product Sourcing processes and increase efficiencies by collaborating with technical design teams
* Lead the evaluation (Scorecard), and selection of suppliers and materials through market sourcing / research, identification of supplier capabilities, the creation of technical RFQ documents, proposal review, risk analysis, and complex commercial contract negotiation
* Identify, develop, and implement cost avoidance / cost reduction opportunities within the framework of NPD and Sustaining Production to increase our overall profitability
* Lead supplier RFQ process relative to components, conducting in-depth supplier analysis to ensure competitive pricing, delivery, and lead time are being achieved
* Responsible to obtain all required documentation and approvals necessary to fulfill the new vendor set-up process
* Provide input into the Global Category Strategies and apply the category strategies (metals, plastics, electronics, etc.) to new and sustaining products
* Lead the development of strategies for Electronic Components, Fiber Optic components, Adhesives, films, foams and other material categories that are unique to our business necessities
* Drive continuous cost improvement for critical production materials based on spend
* Actively support and lead sustaining material supply issues and other Procurement situations affecting our Manufacturing Operation.
* Participate in supplier and ISO Certification audits as needed
* Monitor sourcing and procurement innovation trends in the marketplace

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

* BA/BS in Engineering or Technical Field

* Supply Chain or Procurement Experience

* Minimum 5 years of experience for NPI/Sourcing activities

* Proficient in Microsoft Office

* SAP knowledge and experience

* Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels within the organization.

* Must be a US Person (Citizen or Green Card Holder) due to our activities that may fall under the international Traffic in Arms regulations (ITAR)

* Fluent in business English

What Will Put You Ahead

* Engineering or Sourcing professional

* Master's Degree in Business or Engineering

* Electronic components sourcing proved experience (direct Mfg., Distribution and Open Market)

* Experience in Printed Electronics, membrane switch, copper flex or other circuit manufacturing business

* Experience in negotiation and developing contracts

* Previous experience with project planning and New Product Development
