About the Department
The Department of Clinical Sciences is dedicated to excellence in educating and training veterinarians and comparative biomedical scientists, furthering health care and wellness through discovery and clinical research, providing outstanding and compassionate medical care to a diverse range of animal patients, effectively engaging the animal-owning public, government and industry partners, and providing leadership in integrating biomedical sciences to advance One Health.

North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine ( CVM) is a dynamic community whose members are dedicated to preparing veterinarians and veterinarian scientists while advancing animal and human health from the cellular level through entire ecosystems.

With over seventeen clinical services staffed by board-certified specialists, many of whom are not only nationally but also internationally renowned, the NC State Veterinary Hospital (VH) is on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine. Patients benefit from the combined expertise of multiple specialists utilizing a team approach to patient health care. Each year, nearly 36,000 patients are treated in the VH. The VH provides compassionate care, state-of-the-art specialty health care, expert clinical instruction for 4th-year veterinary students from CVM, and ongoing investigation of innovative techniques and procedures to further advance the field of veterinary medicine.
Essential Job Duties
NC State has had a well-established Theriogenology service with substantial contributions to the teaching, research, and clinical missions within the College. Recent changes in staffing create space for enthusiastic candidates to rebuild and re-envision what a productive service looks like. The CVM is seeking a qualified candidate for a tenure track theriogenology faculty position hiring at the rank of either assistant or associate professor.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide 24-26 weeks of clinical service annually, contribute to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine ( DVM) curriculum through both didactic courses and clinical rotations, and establish an independent, yet collaborative, research program. Additionally, the incumbent will be involved in the training of house officers, including residents and interns.

In the long term, the Theriogenology service aims to operate with at least two faculty members, providing clinical services at both the NC State Veterinary Hospital (serving equine and canine patients) and our satellite facility, the Theriogenology clinic at Reedy Creek Farm, both located in Raleigh, NC. Currently, the service is evenly split between equine and canine cases (50% each), a balance we wish to maintain. However, candidates with a preference for focusing solely on either equine or canine theriogenology are encouraged to apply and will be supported in their efforts to thrive in this environment.
