Job Summary

The Sustainable Infrastructure Solutions Engineer will help drive solutions to support CEMEX carbon-neutrality roadmap and efforts, by (1) establishing and sustaining essential contact with public agencies, contractors, private developers, and engineers; (2) being a technical resource & driving increased demand for CEMEX sustainable cementitious & concrete solutions, products and services for specific projects through technical support & commercial relationships on infrastructure, commercial and industrial applications; (3) supporting the sustainability initiatives of CEMEX including Vertua, Portland limestone cement adoption, Slag, other blended cements and SCM's by conducting technical activities to speed adoption into the local market; (4) identifying potential projects where the cementitious intensity is low, does not benefit CEMEX customers, or improved sustainable practices can be adopted, and then influence the decision makers to modify the structural design / bid process / other factors to overcome these challenges; (5) working on developing specific projects in coordination with CEMEX Commercial teams to strategically position CEMEX as the supplier of choice on those projects and provide additional value added to CEMEX Customers. (6) Providing design recommendations to customers, owners, or specifiers for infrastructure solutions. In addition, the Cemex Sustainable Infrastructure Engineer shall support the sales of admixtures or other value-added solutions to Direct Work customers as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain deep relationships with customers, public agencies, developers, Engineering Consultants, and contractors. Utilize these relationships to grow the use of Sustainable cement - based infrastructure options
  • Working in conjunction with the Cemex commercial teams, build and maintain collaborative relationships with contractors engaged in cementitious-based Infrastructure solutions
  • Identify potential projects where sustainability can be enhanced, or the cementitious intensity is low or does not benefit CEMEX customers, and then influence the decision makers to modify the structural design / bid process / other factors to as needed.
  • Drive the adoption of CEMEX sustainability initiatives in the market including Vertua, Portland limestone cement adoption, or blended cements.
  • Provide design recommendations to customers, owners, or specifiers for infrastructure solutions. As needed, place Professional Engineering stamp on recommendation reports.
  • Once the project is fully developed and ready for bid, provide leads to CEMEX Commercial teams collaborate with them to strategically position CEMEX as the supplier of choice on those projects and provide additional value added to CEMEX Customers.
  • Develop, promote, and grow the use of cement- and concrete-based options & sustainable solutions on specific projects
  • Interact with and provide assistance to CEMEX Cement, RM, Aggregate, and Admixture sales to support relationship building with their customers & supporting their sustainability interactions.
  • Engage with design & specifying community as well as contractors, provide market intelligence to commercial team to support decision making on specific projects
  • Identify and rewrite key specifications within the territory that need modifications to allow for cement-based infrastructure and pavement options, as well as Vertua, Portland Limestone Cement, or Slag
  • Develop a prioritized call list of Engineers, agencies, developers, owners and contractors within the territory
  • Develop the communication skills needed to meet with public agencies, developers, Engineering Consultants, owners and contractors to discuss above mentioned targets
  • Develop structural designs, cost analysis, promotional materials, and other technical information needed to sell the alternate cement - based infrastructure and pavement options
  • Develop and deliver presentations to contractors, design engineers, geotechnical engineers, public agencies, University classes, etc. to educate them on the use of cement - based infrastructure and pavement options
  • Assist with developing and training contractors in the region as needed for specific cement based infrastructure and paving solutions


Qualifications

  • Existing strong network of customers, public agencies, Developers, Engineering Consultants, and contractors is a major plus
  • Preferred BS in Engineering or construction science with 2 years of experience, or MS in Engineering, construction science, or construction materials
  • BA in Concrete Industry Management
  • Professional Engineering License in local State or ability to obtain within 2 years is a plus
  • Master of Business Administration is a plus


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to communicate and interact with public agencies, developers, Engineering Consultants, and contractors who work on infrastructure projects

Geotechnical Engineering, Land Development, Construction estimating or sales experience is a plus

Knowledge and experience working with sustainability concepts

Technical knowledge of pavement designs, mix design or construction

Technical knowledge of cement and concrete materials

Strong personal relationship and presentation skills, well organized, and market/business savvy

Experience participating in commercial and or business transaction environments such as front line interaction with owners or public agencies is a plus

Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint required

Excellent verbal & written communication

Working Conditions

  • Working with challenging clients, assisting with trainings, and presenting information is expected regularly.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and fingering to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
