Departmental Overview Facilities Services works to maintain a campus-built environment that is conducive to teaching, learning and research. The department strives to continuously improve the campus in partnership with all members of the campus community. The Engineering and Technical Services unit of Facilities Services helps develop the vision, strategy, incentives, and initiatives that will align operations, planning and design processes, and resource management with the principles of sustainability. Position Summary Join the University of California Berkeley's (UCB) Facilities Services (FS), operating within the Utilities Engineering Team, and play a crucial role in helping UCB's efforts in becoming a fully electrified campus in meeting its and the University of California Office of the President (UCOP) Net Carbon Neutrality goals. The FS department consists of several units including: Engineering & Technical Services, Campus Operations, Asset Management, Customer Service Center, Safety, Maintenance Operations and Campus Building Department. The Utilities Engineering team consists of six full-time staff members, including: two (2) high voltage electrical engineers, mechanical engineer (overseeing steam, natural gas), civil engineer (sewer, storm, water), energy engineer (metering systems), data analyst and manager. This position would work closely with the Utilities Engineering manager, electrical engineers, UCB Office of Sustainability, and Capital Projects (CP) department. DERs will be essential to UCB's transition to full electrification, and successful integration to existing electrical distribution systems will be paramount. Distributed Energy Resource Project Manager Role Overview: A career position to manage business development/Request for Proposal (RFP)/ Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) contracting (negotiation/legal coordination) for Distributed Energy Resources (DERs, i.e. solar photovoltaic [PV]; battery, fuel cells, other), oversee implementation/installations of the DERs, and guidance and documentation to ensure maximum IRA/179D tax credits for the Berkeley Clean Energy Campus (BCEC), manage eventual energy service contract operations. This staff person will manage complex work and requires PPA renewable energy development experience (preferably from the private sector) singularly committed to Berkeley's interests. Salary & Benefits This is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) exempt career position, which is paid monthly and eligible for UC Benefits.
