SUMMARY

Direct maintenance personnel in all preventive maintenance tasks. Act as a lead and coordinates activities of employees engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment, and in fabricating metal parts and tools.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Direct employees in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Direct employees engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
  • Assist employees in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Responsible for scheduling, maintaining, repairing, and overall operation of assigned machinery and equipment.
  • Responsible for completion of work orders and associated preventive maintenance paperwork.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Requisition and keep supply of spare parts.
  • Study production schedules and estimate employee hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Enforce safety regulations.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department or work crew.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Confer with supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Coordinate activities of employees in making repairs to buildings.
  • Maintain level of quality consistent with established standards.
  • Comply with established safety rules.
  • Comply with company policy and procedures.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with co-workers, leads, supervisors, and Superintendent.
  • Maintain regular attendance in accordance with company policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to the satisfaction of Superintendent.

Job Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education/Knowledge

High school diploma or three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent from two year college or technical school.

  • Experience

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Computer skills are also required, as well as strong organizational skills.

  • Communication

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
