Job Title: Open Rank- Emergency Psychiatry Advanced Practice Provider (Instructor, Sr. Instructor, Assistant Professor)

Position #00827415 - Requisition #35113

This position is also eligible for a pay differential of $750.00 per month, per 0.3 FTE (1 day/week) for your work on the CDU2 Service totaling $2,500 a month.
Differential is contingent upon work service in CDU2 for 1year and prorated by FTE. Should your FTE change, the differential rate will be adjusted.




Job Summary:



The CDU2 APP will provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department. This position involves evaluating and treating behavioral emergencies and substance intoxication and withdrawal in the emergency department alongside a team of behavioral health evaluators, nurses, emergency medicine physicians, APPs, residents, and medical students.

The APP/APN is responsible for collaborating with other emergency department faculty, staff and other CDU2 psychiatrist's and APPS.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Participate in attending rotation in ED/CDU2 service with flexible hours including weekends and nights.
  • The CDU2- APP should be comfortable managing comorbid medical conditions via collaboration with the main emergency department attendings.
  • Determining the appropriate treatment of patients, monitoring them as needed, and determining disposition.
  • This position requires familiarity with the use of chemical restraints, emergency medications, seclusion/restraint procedures, pharmacology for acute agitation, risk assessment, and treatment of substance intoxication and withdrawal.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities; quality improvement and patient safety activities; assists in maintaining compliance with JCAHO accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards including the code of conduct.
  • Maintains eligibility for SOM faculty appointments.
  • Help with interdisciplinary trainee education in both clinical and didactic settings.
  • Perform initial diagnostic interviews, develop, and follow through with a treatment plan, and maintain appropriate documentation through the electronic medical record-Epic.
  • Identify when patients may move on from our treatment service as they complete care, transition back to primary care, or need specialty or long- term services located in the community.
  • Actively contributes to academic advancement of his/her/their discipline.



Work Location:



Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora Colorado at the University of Colorado Hospital. Clinical Decision Unit 2. (CDU2).

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Assistant Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Academic rank will be determined during the interview process after discussion between you and the department about your previous experience and academic desires.

Instructor:



  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree in nursing
  • Current Colorado NP, PMHNP license
  • Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Nursing Credential Review Board.


Sr. Instructor:



  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree in nursing
  • Current Colorado NP, PMHNP license
  • Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Nursing Credential Review Board.


Assistant Professor:



  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree in nursing
  • Current Colorado NP, PMHNP license
  • Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Nursing Credential Review Board.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience working in psychiatry.
  • Experience working in residential and community-based settings.
  • Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Active before start date to practice as a NP in the State of Colorado.
  • Current and active certification in basic like support (BLS)

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $122,000 to $137,000

Sr. Instructor: $122,000 to $137,000

Assistant Professor: $122,000 to $137,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
