Job Summary Job Summary

Responsible in developing commodity strategies and programs for procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts and supplies for aerospace manufacturing operations. Develops and provides leadership to institutionalize the processes of Continuous Improvement in accordance with organization goals and objectives.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

  • Develops commodity strategies across TNG business units, coordinates procurement projects to improve cost control and functions as a project leader providing technical leadership requiring ingenuity and innovation.
  • Develops, plans studies and collects data to determine cost saving options for parts and material. Analyzes data obtained. Develops and delivers reports for cost savings as a result of studies and projects of commodity activity and negotiations.
  • Negotiates complex long term agreements with NORDAM supplier partners in cooperation with NORDAM Legal team. May purchase parts and materials of high value requiring a high level of technical knowledge of the aircraft system or subsystems for which it will be used. May review requisitions and confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Frequently acts as program manager for execution of plans that require multiple sources of business input from various TNG business groups and requires coordination across multiple procurement teams.
  • Develops and generates make/buy decisions based on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal costs and capabilities for core and non-core items.
  • Considers additional methods through contracts to assist the organization to manage inventory (i.e. KAN BAN, Consignment Stock, Vendor Managed Inventory, etc.) Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
  • Engages in supplier development activities where appropriate and necessary based on the commodity group. Develops supplier corrective actions for chronic performance issues. Works in cooperation with Engineering and Quality where appropriate.

Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.
Minimum Qualifications Education Requirements

Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree. Business or a related discipline.

If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.

  • Operates standard office equipment and demonstrates competence in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Supervision Supervision
  • May directly supervise a small staff of one (1) to three (3) professionals and/or clerical support staff as needed related to specific Projects.
  • May indirectly supervise from 50 to 100 managers, supervisors, Leads, and other personnel as part of Program Management.
  • Program's value between 50 and 100 Million.
