NET Technical Instructor (FLMNET)

The selected candidate will be a member of the GDLS New Equipment Training (NET) team based on Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM). The NET department is made up of two groups. Field Level Maintenance New Equipment Training (FLMNET) and Operator New Equipment Training (OPNET).

Position Responsibilities:
  • Instruct, demonstrate procedures, and evaluate U.S. Army and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) soldiers on the Stryker family of vehicles by presenting classroom, vehicle, and hands-on instruction that encompasses all field level maintenance tasks and conduct follow-on training as required.
  • Prepare, validate, and recommend changes to the technical sequencing and procedures of the Training Support Packages (TSP) (course curricula, programs of instruction, lesson plans, audio- visual aids, practical exercises, and evaluations) and other instructional materials.
  • Able to become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the maintenance of the Stryker Family of Vehicles as required.
  • Support Instructor Training Sessions for new hires and certification training as required.
  • Assist the department Supervisors and Manager with preparation of training schedules and the administration of the instructor certification program.
  • Validate training material and examinations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by NET Supervisors and Manager.


Work Environments:
  • Will be exposed to products used in normal vehicle maintenance shop and field/outdoor environments.
  • Will be exposed to temperature and weather extremes during conduct of job duties.
  • Work in improved and unimproved maintenance facilities as well as field environment.
  • Work performed in Office, Classroom, Maintenance Shop, and Field Training Environments.
  • Required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work at heights, able to climb with and without a ladder onto a Stryker, and work in all weather conditions and in extreme temperatures (cold and hot).


Position Requirements:
  • 2 to 5 years mechanic experience/maintenance on tactical/combat vehicles. Stryker, Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) 2.5 or LAV III preferred. U.S. military Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) and military crew served weapons strongly desirable. Applicable MOS (25U, 91C, 91B, 91S, 63S, 63W or 63B MCM or USMC MOS' 2147, 3521, 3522, 3524).
  • 2 to 5 years documented commercial mechanic/maintenance training and/or experience acceptable in lieu of military vehicle experience.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain GDLS Instructor training, qualification, and certification on the Stryker Family of Vehicles.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License Level B (CDL-B) driver's license and successfully complete CDL-B training.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain successful T1 NACI background to obtain CAC (Common Access Card).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain base access per military installation requirements.
  • Ability to meet and maintain Anthropometric Size Restrictions (ASR) guidelines as described in Environmental, Health and Safety Instruction subject Military Vehicle Safe Work Requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Passport.
  • Strong written, reading, oral and briefing skills required; Ability to interact and communicate effectively and clearly with multiple audiences.
  • Able to travel CONUS/ OCONUS to conduct New Equipment Training at Government/Military Installations and sites on the Stryker vehicles as part of a NET Team as required.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting procedures preferred.
  • Experience with Interactive Electronic Technical Manual's (IETM) & Diagnostics Procedures for Special Tooling Test Equipment (STTE) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.


Position Hourly Rate: $32.23

Position Incentive: Hired applicant may be eligible to receive an annual bonus.

Employees may be eligible for the SCA Health & Welfare Benefit hourly rate, which will vary, based on the employee's choice of benefit elections. The SCA Health & Welfare Benefit hourly rate ranges from $0.00 to $4.57.

Employees are also eligible to receive 6.66 hours of vacation per month, 56 hours of sick time per year and 11 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. .
