Position Overview:

Ameresco has an opportunity for an Energy & Sustainability Intern to join Ameresco's Central Region Project Development Team based in Evanston, Illinois or Oak Brook, Illinois. This is a paid internship (32- 40 hours per week) scheduled for June thru August 2025.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Engineers to provide project support for development, design, construction, and post-construction activities.

  • Provide assistance with energy assessments including baseline profiles, end-use, and retrofit analysis.

  • Analyze utility bill data and sub-meter data for buildings or for building systems.

  • Assist with the assessment of project requirements to evaluate opportunities for energy efficiency.

  • Analyze and document building, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing systems.

  • Investigate, analyze, and document energy conservation and water cost reduction measures.

  • Prepare technical content, proposals, analysis, feasibility reports and provide critical peer review.

  • Foster effective and positive business relationships with all parties throughout project phases.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Northwestern University Student currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in science or engineering with an interest in Energy and/or Sustainability.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to gather, validate, and analyze quantitative data and information.

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Excel.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills required.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
