Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC, DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Advanced Assistant or Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology to begin August 2025. The ideal candidate will have a record of excellent undergraduate teaching and will engage undergraduate students in a strong research program. Preference will be given to candidates with a focus on child clinical psychology. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in clinical or counseling psychology.
The successful candidate will teach courses within general education, including introduction to psychology and the College's first-year seminar program, as well as research methods and upper-division lab courses within their area of expertise. Our faculty are dedicated teachers, mentors, and advisors who develop innovative pedagogies to enhance student learning in addition to engaging actively in scholarship and service. We are excited to welcome new colleagues who are eager to be part of our vibrant academic community and to contribute to the College's growth and development.
Tenure-track faculty in the Psychology department teach a 2-2 semester course load and are expected to actively engage undergraduate students in their research, maintain a strong research program, and participate in the department and university community through service. Qualified candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, have experience teaching a diverse population, and be able to integrate diversity into the curriculum.
The Department of Psychology consists of eight full-time faculty who provide coursework in theoretical and research foundations of psychology, with intensive student involvement in research and applied experiences. Psychology is one of the largest majors in the University, with close to 200 undergraduate majors and minors.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A doctorate by August 2025 in clinical or counseling psychology or a closely related field, evidence of scholarly productivity, and experience teaching at the college level as the instructor of record.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated potential in the following areas:

  • Mentoring and supervising undergraduate students and undergraduate research assistants
  • Record of scholarship and teaching that shows prospects of independence and persistence
  • Research focus on children and/or adolescents
  • Prior experience as an assistant professor or similar position
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work schedule is dependent on department need.
Hiring Range $75,000 - $82,000. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
