Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED, with prior retail experience. Must have good customer service skills and be able to provide clarity of direction. Must be personable, trustworthy and able to work with a wide range of customers and staff, a team player and able to work independently. Must be able to pass a background check, possess a valid driver's license, have a good driving record and meet the MVR driver's qualification. It must be understood by the incumbent that the provisions of Safe From Harm will apply upon commencement of employment and also understood that the required Safe From Harm training be satisfactorily completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment.

Summary of Position

Responsible for assisting the Thrift Store Manager with the day-to-day operation of the Thrift Store by greeting and assisting customers, visual merchandising and cleaning. This is a regular full time position with a workweek expectation of 40 hours per week.

$17.50/hour, 25 hours/week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:




  • Manage Thrift Store operations in the absence of the Thrift Store Manager.
  • Assist with the Thrift Store operations efficiently and effectively, while maintaining the established SA policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a sufficient level of knowledge of all phases of the Thrift Store operations.
  • Assist with the supervising, directing, and training for all Thrift Store employees and volunteers.
  • Monitor the processing of all incoming merchandise, the inspection and pricing of merchandise, and the placement of merchandise in the backroom.
  • Greet and assist all customers in a polite and professional manner.
  • Handle any ongoing problems with employees, volunteers, and customers.
  • Be aware of any safety concerns and take appropriate measure to correct.
  • Ensure we are providing a high level of customer service.
  • Keep all merchandise neat and orderly.
  • Assist with housekeeping and other chores to maintain the store in a clean, neat, safe and orderly manner.
  • Assist Manager in the ordering of supplies, and keeping expenses within the budget.
  • Direct and schedule all volunteers, Community Service and STS.
  • Sign-off on all Thrift Store employee time cards and absentee slips when Thrift Store Manager is out.
  • Assist with scheduling staff to ensure appropriate Thrift Store coverage.
  • Assist with bank deposits for cash deposits and safeguarding cash at all times.
  • And all other duties as assigned.



Working Conditions

There are normally no hazardous or significantly unpleasant physical working conditions, with the exception of the occasional emotional distress or turmoil (due to varying situations) with and between staff and/or clients. However, working outdoors will reflect seasonal weather conditions, sometimes it gets as low as -20-40 below zero. In the summer months, it can get fairly hot outside, can get above 90-100 degrees. The duties and responsibilities of this position cannot be performed from home.
