Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is hiring for a Stationary Engineer II position at RWJBarnabas Heath University Hospital Rahway. This is a Per Diem Night Position.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school or trade school and at least 1 year experience on Industrial boilers required.
  • Must hold a valid Blue Seal or greater NJ Stationary Engineer License.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in Industrial Maintenance capacity.
  • Must be capable of distinguishing and identifying colors.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Minimum training of six months after initial departmental orientation required.
  • Valid NJ Drivers License required.

Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable remove when posting):

  • Valid NJ Drivers License required.
  • Must hold a valid Blue Seal or greater NJ Stationary Engineer License.z

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Night Shift
  • Per Diem

Essential Functions:

  • The Stationary Engineer is responsible for observing the Boiler Room equipment, meters and gauges to ensure that the operation is in accordance with the regulations and specific instructions.
  • He/she shall record these observations on appropriate log sheets.
  • The Stationary Engineer should be able to stop, start and switch over boilers appropriately.
  • Clean and repair boilers, blow tubes and discharge sediment, regulate feed water and condensate pumps, lubricate equipment.
  • Also responsible for performing work such as repacking valves as needed, and change piping. Clean and paint in boiler room as needed and lubricate boiler compressors, pumps and related parts regularly.
  • The Stationary Engineer is expected to perform minor repairs such as replacing work gaskets, tightening joints, and replacing defective meters and keep logs on each boiler and emergency generator, logging results, reactions, etc., using specific chemicals, periodically test and treat boiler water and chill water.
  • The Stationary Engineer is also responsible for blowing down boilers when needed according to directions and adjust and changes to the computer controlled environmental system through the use of data entry terminal.
  • The Stationary Engineer may participate in snow removal activities as required. Change belts on air handlers as required (emergency situations) and may be asked to work with maintenance personnel in emergency situations.
  • The Stationary Engineer should have knowledge of and adherence to written departmental policies and procedures and all other duties as assigned.
