The Orthopedic Clinical Assistant will provide clinical support in the provision of quality orthopedic care and treatment of patients and perform assigned administrative duties. Under supervision, and as direct support to physicians and/or other providers, clinical duties may include rooming of patients, obtaining medical history information, preparation of patient for evaluation, fitting and dispensing of durable medical equipment, and other assigned procedures.

This role is for a full-time opportunity and it will provide primary support to a surgical Sports Medicine Team (.6) and part-time support (.4) in a Float role. Primary location will be at our Plymouth Campus with flexibility to float to Maple Grove, Minnetonka and Eden Prairie. (locations subject to change). Flexibility to float to other locations as needed. Regular Clinic hours, typically 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (subject to change) Monday - Friday. Hours are approximate/ estimated based on team or clinic needs.

Responsibilities:



  • Monitor patient flow, room patients and obtain and record medical histories and prepare patient for evaluation and/or treatment.
  • Prepare required instruments and equipment for examinations. Clean and stock exam/procedure rooms, including instruments and equipment, between patient appointments.
  • Assist with casting, splinting, suture and staple removal, fitting and dispensing of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) as appropriate, and as directed by provider.
  • Provide standardized patient education instructions verbal or written.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and appointments for further evaluation, testing, as needed, verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics.
  • Refill prescriptions on behalf of ordering physician
  • Perform administrative duties, including manage patient charts to ensure accuracy and completion, sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab and x-ray and other related reports, and completing and sending necessary paperwork.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
Technical/other training of Medical Assistant (required)
Experience
Completion of an approved Medical Assistant, Casting Technician, or other health care educational program. Must possess current applicable licensure or certification as required by program.
Candidates working toward an advanced medical degree may be considered for certain positions, on a temporary basis, with an appropriate combination of completed education and experience.
Casting/splinting certification highly desired or willingness to obtain necessary certification upon hire. (preferred)
1 years: Must have at least one year of relevant clinical experience, preferably in an Orthopedic environment. (required)
