Position Summary The Department of Pathology, at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, is seeking a general surgical pathologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with special interest or fellowship training in Head and Neck Pathology and/or Bone/Soft Tissue Pathology to join our faculty. Service responsibilities will consist of general surgical pathology and cytology in an academic tertiary care center with a growing regional outside consult service. The successful candidate will hold an academic appointment in the Department of Pathology and will participate in diagnostic, teaching, and translational research activities. This position will be located within the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH), the only Tier 1 Trauma Center located in the state of New Mexico and may require infrequent travel to the UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center, a community hospital of the UNM Health System, located a short 29 miles from the UNMH Pathology offices. The Surgical Pathology Division also provides clinical services to the NCI-designated UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center, and closely works with oncologists in multiple subspecialty tumor boards. Research conducted by the faculty includes collaborative efforts with basic science and physician investigators within the Department of Pathology (http://pathology.unm.edu/), other School of Medicine departments, the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Human Tissue Repository, and the NIH-funded Clinical Translational Science Center.
