This position performs technical responsibilities in support of the oncology services of UW Veterinary Care (UWVC). Make a real difference in patients' and their owners' lives!


Responsibilities:
Veterinary Technician I (AN002)
Veterinary Technician II (AN003)
Veterinary Technician III (AN004)
Tasks:

  • Administer sedation and monitor patients
  • Call referring veterinary for patient records
  • Clean and stock work areas
  • Coordinate with other services for procedures
  • Obtain patient histories
  • Participate in rotating on-call shifts as needed
  • Perform catheter placement
  • Perform nursing care for patients
  • Perform patient restraint
  • Perform phlebotomy and other sample collection
  • Float to support other small animal services as needed
  • Assist with client communication and inquiries
  • Bring a positive and helpful attitude to the unit daily
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

This position is posted Vet Tech levels 1, 2 and 3. Level and pay are commensurate with experience. Level is determined by qualifications based on type of prior experience:

To qualify for Level 1: Entry level, new CVT grad with minimal experience

To qualify for Level 2: Generally over 2 years of veterinary tech experience, may substitute years of experience for specialization.

To qualify for Level 3: Veterinary Tech Specialist (VTS), or highly qualified and specialized in a specific area, may have prior experience from another university hospital.

Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks.


License/Certification:

Required
CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician


Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-5:30PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Time may vary based on candidate and unit needs.

Flexibility to cover various shifts as needed. Some holidays and weekends may be required, based on needs of the unit. On-call hours as required by the hospital.


Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 75% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $18.36 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications
Sign-on Bonus of 5% of base pay (based on FTE) to be paid over the first year of employment (Minimum of $1,800+ for Veterinary Technicians)!
