Gundersen Health System is seeking a IR Tech to work in our Integrated Platform.

What you will do: The Interventional Radiologist team is experts in the use of imaging techniques such as X-rays, ultrasound, CT and MRI to treat and diagnose disease.
  • Treat a wide range of conditions using minimally-invasive, non-surgical techniques.
  • Team structure consists of two IR technologists to one nurse and one physician.

Job Description:

Performs high quality radiologic exams, interventional medical sonography exams, cone beam CT exams, with three-dimensional reconstruction of imaging examinations, and complex procedures to aide in medical diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease to include interventional radiology, vascular interventional, and neuro interventional cases. Assists physician as a scrub person according to prescribed standards. Assist RN and provider in performing circulating duties as directed. Display understanding of anatomy and physiology, the pathological condition affecting the patient, the planned procedure, and consider any variations that may be necessary to meet the needs of the patient.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Works with Gundersen Health System patients and their families to provide compassionate individualized care in the provision of Interventional Radiology services. Understands and applies the concepts of Interventional Radiology when performing examinations on patients.

2. Demonstrates working knowledge of instruments and competency of established protocols and equipment operation when performing fluoroscopic, cone beam CT,interventional medical sonography, three-dimensional reconstruction of imaging examinations on patients. Provides the best images possible to radiologists and providers for interpretation. Provides high quality service to customers in a cost effective and efficient manner.

3. Maintains confidentiality with others regarding patient and organizational information.

4. Assumes responsibility to provide a quality-learning environment for patients, their families, students and co-workers. Responsible for attending staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education as required by the department.

5. Directly responsible for maintaining aseptic integrity during the interventional procedure. Organizes sterile field for use, opens sterile supplies for scrubbing and donning sterile gowns and gloves.

6. Utilizes knowledge of regulatory compliance when working with patients and their associated charges.

7. Assess learning limitations on patients when providing education and records appropriately in Epic as needed.

8. Administers contrast and necessary medications per established protocols needed to perform exams.

9. Assists and anticipates needs of provider by passing instrumentation, equipment, and supplies accurately and quickly. Assists in the clean up of the room between procedures, making necessary preparations for subsequent procedures, including restocking, supplying, and coordinating materials required for use on procedure.

10. Witness waste of controlled substances with authorized staff in the state of Wisconsin.Will not witness waste in Minnesota and Iowa, both states require licensed individuals or registered pharmacy technician staff only to witness the waste of controlled substances.

11. Performs other job-related responsibilities as listed on the competency checklist and as requested by others.

Education and Learning:

Post High School education in a specialized field: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology

Work Experience:

1 year experience as a Radiologic Technologist

2 years experience in Special Procedures- interventional, angio, or cardiac cath

License and Certifications:

REQUIRED

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology Registered Technologist-Radiography (ARRT)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology Registered Technologist-Radiology & Advanced Credential Required (CI, VI or CVI) within five years of hire date
  • Wisconsin employees must be a Licensed Radiographer with the State of Wisconsin (LICRAD-WI)
  • Iowa employees must have a Permit to Practice from the Iowa Department of Public Health (RADTECH-IA)
  • Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
