Lead Operating Engineer
Develop your engineering career at JLL! The Lead Operating Engineer leads, with minimal supervision, the operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to HVAC equipment including chillers, cooling towers, boilers & pumps, electrical and plumbing equipment. This role may include assisting the Chief Engineer with providing direction to the team. You will work as part of an engineering team of three at a 465,000 square foot lab office building in Somerville, Ma. This position requires the Lead Operating Engineer to be on-site. Local market requirements may vary slightly. Schedule: 8am-4pm Monday through Friday + rotating on-call (1 week on call every 4 weeks) WHAT YOU'LL DO Maintain, operate and understand the engineering design and operational aspects of the building central utility plant. Immediately recognize system shortcomings when they occur and respond. Complete assigned tasks that include but are not limited to: painting, pressure washing, maintaining lighting system bulbs/ballasts (as allowed by licensing requirements), plumbing, HVAC systems, water treatment, locksmith work and general maintenance Assist in supervising and implementing the preventative maintenance program Maintain work order system (CMMS) daily and complete any tenant service requests Assist in providing training and supervision aimed at expanding the capabilities of Engineering team Support on-call or emergency response situations Troubleshoot all building systems, including electrical, and DDC controls Comply with all safety procedures Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs Ensure shop and work areas are maintained in a neat and well-organized fashion. Monitor supply purchases/inventory to ensure that supplies are ordered as necessary. Other projects and tasks to be assigned WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE Preferred 3-5 years with leadership/supervisory experience 3-5 years of related work experience in central utility plant operations, HVAC repair, maintenance, plumbing & electrical Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable Universal CFC EPA certification or interest in achieving within first year (with JLL assistance) Person must be a self-motivated individual who can work independently or in a team environment. Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams) Ability to read HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and architectural blueprints.
