DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Instructs Group Fitness classes. Utilizes proper class format, instruction, cueing, and technique. Uses appropriate music, volume, and pacing while considering customers' needs. Leads class with enthusiasm and is a motivating and inspiring leader. Communicates with clients, prospective members, and staff to provide excellent customer service. Maintains quality classes by adding variety to the group classes (music, exercises, equipment, etc.). Ensures safety for all clients and contraindications to exercise. Demonstrates competency when responding to emergency situations. Monitors class participants for good body mechanics while exercising and corrects technique when appropriate. Documents the number of attendees per class. Notifies the leadership when supplies or equipment are missing or in need of repair. Takes proper care of equipment and sees that clients use equipment properly and returns in the appropriate places. Communicates necessary information to team members. Meets acceptable standards for neatness, cleanliness, grooming, and suitability of attire in compliance with the dress code for the department. Participates in hospital-sponsored activities or marketing events. Maintains continuing education in health, fitness, and wellness by reading current literature on related topics. Aids in the development and growth of the fitness center and the group fitness program by attending/sharing upcoming events via social media. Promotes services to friends, coworkers, and family members. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. Three (3) months of exercise or fitness programming related work experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
