HVAC Controls Engineer

Pay Range:

Level I - 0-5 years: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00

Level II - 5+ years: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00

Level III - 10+ years: $120,000 - $140,000.00

Scope of Work: As an HVAC Controls Engineer you are responsible for delivering a complete control system design based on the contract documents and/or scope that is complete, accurate, approved, and in the budgeted time. This approved design is the foundation for other building blocks; installation, programming, graphic development, commissioning, training and O&M's.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and design HVAC controls systems, including the selection of appropriate control strategies and components
• Lead in developing project bill of materials and estimating projects
• Create submittal documents with detailed controls system schematics, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation
• Develop and implement control algorithms and sequences
• Assist Team Leaders and Technicians to ensure successful project execution
• Provide technical support to installation and service teams during the commissioning and startup of HVAC controls systems
• Ensure all controls systems comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in HVAC controls technologies and industry best practices
• Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure high standards of workmanship
• All other duties assigned

Qualifications + Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• BS. Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering practical solutions that exceed client needs and expectations
• Excellent people skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with individuals at all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding environment
• Working knowledge using Microsoft 365 suite + Visio + Bluebeam + AutoCAD + Niagra + Reflow

Work Environment: Thermosystems LLC offices are in Elmhurst or Romeoville, IL. Field work with exposure to various working conditions, including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and outdoor settings with regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols in commercial buildings within Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana Territories (Office Buildings, Data Centers, k-12 Schools, Medical Office Buildings/Hospitals, Warehouses, etc.).
