Maintenance Technician II

Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Technician II to be based out of Kokomo, IN. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining the production equipment's mechanical, pneumatic and electrical systems to improve the safety, productivity, and quality of the facility. The candidate will be expected to perform repair, and preventative maintenance on equipment and assist with manufacturing set-ups if necessary.

What you'll do:



  • Safety action orientated with quality and control system knowledge

    • Must be able to work 8-10 hour shifts and willing to work overtime
    • Implements, upgrades, troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, and installs the control systems to help improve the safety, productivity, and quality of the facility
    • Maintains the entire plant's production equipment mechanical and electrical systems along with upgrading devices and controls without supervision
    • Performs preventative maintenance and routine inspections of all control systems
    • Communicates with operators to assist with solutions or repair of electrical problems
    • Has a solid understanding of all the mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems of the equipment that comprises its operation
    • Communicates with vendors on new and existing equipment to troubleshoot and repair


  • Reads, edits, and creates PLC Ladder Logic as it relates to the operation & modification of our production equipment
  • Electrically, pneumatic, HVAC, general plumbing, and mechanically inclined

    • Performs MIG and Stick welding for plant machinery repairs


  • Repair and rebuild electrical and mechanical components
  • Installation, modification, and fabrication of equipment and systems to meet production needs and schedules
  • Conduct routine maintenance of electrical equipment, wiring, and resources.
  • Work with maintenance and production personnel in analyzing and troubleshooting equipment failures
  • Cleary communicate maintenance situations to the Shift Supervisor, and Plant Manager
  • Standard work training, 5S, lean sustainment, and problem-solving
  • Obtaining quality products and meeting customer packaging requirements
  • Communication skills to apply strong manufacturing guidelines with a strategic planning focus
  • All duties as instructed by supervision


What you'll bring:



  • High school degree or GED equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical/mechanical maintenance in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Must have strong Mechanical and Electrical skill sets
  • Experience with installation of machinery and equipment as well as disassembly
  • Ideal candidates will be creative, have strong mechanical, pneumatic, proficient in welding and electrical skills
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands, and able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner
  • Experience and knowledge of Lean Daily Management principles preferred
  • Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced work environment
  • Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
  • Computer skills -Microsoft Windows and JD Edwards preferred
  • Lean concept sustainment & problem-solving skills
  • Ability to give verbal instruction, build positive relationships, and good organizational skills
  • Flexibility of shift schedule including overtime and weekends
  • Must possess an outgoing positive attitude, be a team player and have strong work ethic


Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete required training
  • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role
  • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations
