About the Job

Position Overview

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction housed in the College of Education and Human Development, at the University of Minnesota, has an occasional need for part-time, temporary
or casual employees. This does not constitute a posting for vacancies but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2024-2025 academic year. The work schedule is temporary in nature, meaning the employee is limited to 67 days of work in a calendar year. It can also be casual in nature, meaning the employee can work 14 or fewer hours per week. Employees working in this position are paid an hourly rate; temporary and casual employees are not eligible for retirement plans, health insurance, vacation, sick leave, or the Regents Scholarship.

Job Responsibilities

Support academic and/or research initiatives of the department (100%)

  • Work with faculty and staff on various teaching and research projects
  • Use computer software programs such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, University Box, Canvas, Adobe Acrobat
  • Comply with university required policies and procedures and complete required trainings as necessary
  • Meet with manager as needed, online as well as in-person
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Some Highschool education or 2 years work experience.
  • Ability to communicate with manager and team members over email, phone, and/or videoconference.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities.

  • Demonstrated superior attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and be self-directed
  • Ability to work quickly and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated excellent word processing and data entry skills

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $15:00 - $40.00 an hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
