Job Summary

The Orthopedic Department at Denver Health Medical offers a one-year Orthoplastic Limb Restoration Fellowship starting August 1st, 2025. This non-ACGME accredited fellowship offers comprehensive training in advanced orthopedic limb salvage, soft tissue coverage, and microsurgery. The fellow will have attending privileges and work collaboratively with trainees and faculty in the Hand-Microvascular Division within the Orthopedic Department. We seek exceptional candidates who value excellence in patient care and teaching and enjoy working in a dynamic team and advancing the field of microsurgery. The position is open to both national and international candidates, who are board certified orthopedic or plastic surgeons and have completed a hand microvascular fellowship.

Essential Functions:

  • Clinical Rotations: Fellows will participate in diverse clinical settings, including trauma and elective surgery and specialized limb salvage clinics. These rotations provide broad exposure to complex limb salvage cases and emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Surgical Experience: Training covers all microsurgical techniques, including non-microvascular and free flap reconstruction, nerve repair, microvascular anastomosis, upper extremity replantation, revascularization, various flaps and grafts for optimal wound coverage, and orthopedic deformity correction.
  • Research Component: Fellows are expected to participate in ongoing research projects to improve outcomes and advance surgical innovations. Opportunities include presenting at national and international conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Educational Activities: Weekly multidisciplinary case conferences, journal clubs, grand rounds, and teaching activities with residents and medical students are integral to the fellowship.

    Education:

    • Completion of a medical degree MD or DO
    • Completion of a plastics or orthopedic surgery residency

    • Completion of a hand fellowship

    Licenses:

    • MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required or
    • MD Physician Teaching License Through Sponsoring Institution

    Visa:

    • Institutional support of Visa Application for International Candidates (H1B)
