THIS IS A CONTRACT POSITION

SUMMARY

We value all of our employees who make our growth and success possible. This role has a current pay range of $91,000 - $100,000. The listed pay range represents the company's good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum base rate of pay for this position at the time of this posting. The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on their work location, qualifications, relevant experience, operational needs, demonstrated performance over time, and internal pay alignment. This position is a contract role which will provide Right-of-Way support in the Glenarm, IL area and will perform right-of-way duties for Operational support at Energy Transfer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Acquires easements and other property right interests as appropriate for the construction, operation, maintenance or removal of company facilities.
  • Negotiates the settlement of property damage and other claims associated with the construction, maintenance or removal of company facilities.
  • Establishes value regarding property acquisition.
  • Prepares and secures all necessary permits for the construction and maintenance of facilities.
  • Prepares and secures all necessary encroachment/crossing agreements.
  • Resolves encroachments and landowner complaints/inquiries.
  • Interfaces with corporate management, construction/operations personnel, engineering, regulatory, legal, environmental and right-of-way service company personnel.
  • Communicates/negotiates with landowners, tenants, private corporations, federal/state/county/city representatives, attorneys and any other institutions or persons possessing an interest in land in order to acquire necessary property rights for the company.
  • Represents the company in public hearings, trials, condemnations and other appearances as required.
  • Coordinates third party agent activities.
  • Serves as a technical resource regarding right-of-way related matters.
  • Supports operations personnel on day-to-day matters including: one-calls (811), encroachments, ingress/egress rights, landowner notifications, technical reviews (construction/development), etc.
  • Overnight travel required.



Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:



  • A high school diploma and a minimum of six (6) years of experience in right-of-way acquisition and related activities.
  • Must be knowledgeable of real estate principles and rules/regulations pertaining to the acquisition of easements, leases, licenses, permits and other land rights.
  • Analytical ability and judgment to determine rights to be acquired and the degree of protection needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, understand and prepare technical documents such as easements, leases, licenses, amendments, releases, etc.
  • Ability to write, read and map legal descriptions and scale alignment stationing.
  • Possess general computer literacy and ability to prepare spreadsheets using Excel.
  • Basic understanding of FERC requirements.
  • Honesty and high ethical standards in representing the company and interests of land owners.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Special Characteristics/Job Requirements:

    • Strong Interpersonal skills - high degree of interaction with a variety of groups from construction personnel, vendors and internal personnel (operations, engineering, environmental, legal).
    • Team-oriented and self-directed.
    • Driven with strong problem solving ability.





Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:



  • Usually normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
