  • Play a key role in the Advanced Energy Consortium's cross-functional team to guide MEMs integration into groundbreaking applications like exploration, monitoring, and data acquisition in extreme environments.
  • Drive innovation through your deep technical expertise and experience in MEMS (design, fabrication, integration). Masterfully apply knowledge of acoustic, optical and RF MEMS design, materials, and packaging for harsh environments like extreme temperatures, pressures, and corrosive elements.
  • Help with the market launch of these revolutionary, ruggedized MEMS. Craft a winning strategy that unlocks groundbreaking geoscience applications while safeguarding partnerships, leveraging industry-relationships and supporting product development.
  • Help AEC Principal with managing projects across AEC-partnered universities.
  • Develop proposals in response to new grant opportunities and help manage the awarded grants to facilitate the demonstration of AEC research and new technologies at various scales.


Purpose
The Advanced Energy Consortium at UT-Austin is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant Professor to assist with design, fabrication, integration and testing of acoustic, optical and RF MEMS. The research assistant professor will lead future developments in AEC's novel miniaturized sensors (stack chips or system on a board) for subsurface and environmental applications. The individual will be responsible for integration of partners' components to build and test physical and chemical variations of these sensors.

Responsibilities



  • MEMS R&D with emphasis on RF, acoustic, optical, chemical, and physical sensors.
  • Grant writing.
  • Project management.
  • Publication and presentations.


Salary Range
$92, 000 - $110,000

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

We require you to bring:



  • An advanced degree (Ph.D.) in electrical or mechanical engineering, geophysics or related field.
  • Deep understanding of MEMS technology and its diverse applications.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills to bridge technical and business perspectives.
  • Experience working across disciplines.
  • Strategic mindset adept at identifying and seizing research and market opportunities in the growing field of energy and environmental monitoring technologies.
  • Passion for innovation and pushing the boundaries of what's possible with resilient technologies.


Preferred Qualifications



  • A minimum of 3 years post- Ph.D. degree experience in an active research/industry collaboration environment.
  • Experience in geoscience applications and challenges like exploration, monitoring and data acquisition in harsh environments.
  • Experience managing partner and stakeholder relationships.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in environmental industries.
  • Familiarity with agile project management methodologies.
