The toolmaker is responsible for making precision tools (such as jigs and fixtures), locators and holding devices to be used in the manufacturing process which will produce detail parts, sub-assemblies and large assemblies. They will monitor the use of these tools to identify, and implement, any necessary modification or repairs. A toolmaker's job will also involve using manual and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines. This position is excellent for anyone with exceptional technical expertise and a positive, team-oriented attitude looking to work for a company where they can utilize their skills. The toolmaker's responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: * Interpret engineering drawings to design and fabricate tools that can be used safely and efficiently, producing parts that conform to the drawing * Utilize machinery such as lathes, milling machines, welding machines and various hand tools to fabricate production tooling * Utilize precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, gauges, calipers, and CMM machines to construct and check the tool's dimensions * Monitor the tools used on the manufacturing line to ensure efficient operation and identify necessary repairs or possible improvements * Diagnose and troubleshoot production problems and perform repairs on existing tools * Assist with tool maintenance * Create and submit inspection reports Applicant Requirements: * High school diploma or equivalent * Creative in tool design * Must be able to stand for shift durations * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds * Attention to detail and accuracy * At least 5 years of experience in tool making * Good verbal and written communication skills * Able to work independently and as part of a team * Basic math and computer skills Preferred Attributes: * Utilize 2D and 3D computer aided design and manufacturing software (CAD/CAM) * Ability to operate FARO (or equivalent CMM) laser trackers, measuring arms and laser scanners. |
