About the role:

As a Fuel Performance Engineer, you will work in Core Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity for a new graduate/early career Fuel Performance Engineer to join the Fuel Rod & Thermal-Hydraulic Design team.

You will report to the Manager - Fuel Performance and Hydraulic Design

This role is hybrid, and located in Cranberry, PA


Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in introductory training focused on standard analyses and obtain qualifications in the Fuel Performance functional area
  • Perform standard analysis work for US and international customers, following approved methodologies, procedures and internal processes while on nuclear safety and quality to produce error-free work. Analyses will support safe plant operation by confirming that fuel rods produce and transfer heat to the reactor coolant system while preventing the release of fission byproducts or to provide initial (pre-transient) fuel rod conditions as input to downstream safety analyses.
  • Develop skills necessary to assume more independent assignments and verify standard evaluations and analyses performed by others
  • Support emergent issues and interface with our customers and other teams within Westinghouse to support safe plant operation
  • Plan and schedule own work to meet assignment requirement within schedule and budget requirements
  • Participate on project teams and communicate to responsible project managers the nature and status of work projects
  • Identify and recommend improvements in process and tools on a continuing basis and support implementation



Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering (Nuclear, or Mechanical) or related Discipline (e.g., Materials) preferred or recognized equivalent required

Minimum 3.0 GPA

Minimum 0-3 years of engineering experience required

Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification helpful
