Job Overview:

Reporting to the Practice Manager, the Cardiac Device Specialist is responsible for providing technical and clinical services in relation to cardiac devices and support of the electrophysiology & cardiology service line objectives..

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School graduate or GED
  • CDRMS (Cardiac Device Remote Monitoring Specialist) or CCDS (Certified Cardiac Device Specialist) certification required.

  • Previous experience as telemetry technician desirable

Essential Functions:

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Cardiac device management to include maintenance of remote monitoring sites and interpretation of remote cardiac implant (ICD, Pacemakers, ILR) data as well as occasional in office evaluations.
  • Device troubleshooting, identification or arrhythmias, and interpretation of technical and diagnostic information for cardiac implanted devices.
  • Responsible for managing the Remote Monitoring (RM) and Remote Interrogation (RI) of Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED).
  • Enroll patients with CIED into RM System.
  • Monitor the device Company websites including but not limited to: Medtronic, Merlin, Boston Scientific and Biotronik, for pre-specified alerts.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments for RI.
  • Review and enter data from RI into the EMR device form.
  • Forward device and billing forms to the responsible physician.
  • Notify physicians of alerts from RM or for shocks or other significant arrhythmias noted on RI.
  • Documents appropriately in EHR
  • Communicates with patients, clinical staff and physicians to provide device education and report interpretation as well as technical and diagnostic information relevant to patients care.
  • Triage inbound patient calls to the device clinic. Appropriate routing to clinical staff RN/MD as needed with appropriate documentation of calls.

Cardiac Event Monitors:

  • Placement of external event monitors, patient education, proper EHR documentation, enrollment & benefit check.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • CDRMS

Scheduling Requirements:

  • 8:30 am-5:00 pm

  • Per Diem
