Position Summary:
To
assist the Resident Director in providing a safe, living, learning
environment to students (minors) enrolled in the Upward Bound Summer Program.

Essential Functions:
- Assist
the Resident Director with providing a safe learning and living environment
for Upward Bound Students, share supervision.
- Training and evaluation of RA
staff, along with the Residence Hall Director.
- Conduct weekly scheduled staff
meetings.
- Attend all training and meetings.
- Document and report all incidents
within a reasonable amount of time.
- Assist with the development and
implementation of staff training.
- Assist with the coordination and delivery
of programming efforts.
- Serve as a resource and referral agent for students
and staff.
- Serve as a mediator when conflict between students and staff
arise.
- Oversee the arrival and departure of students on Sundays and Fridays.

Additional Functions:
Transport
students from one class location to another in a timely manner, ensuring
proper supervision and safety of students.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal
communication skills.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher.
- Previous experience in a
residential housing facility, preferable at a college/university.
- Leadership
and supervisory abilities.
- Required to live in the residence hall for the
duration of the summer program.
- Must be able to perform in an on-call
environment.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and
responsibilities.
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgement.
- Complete
a background clearance check.
- Ability to plan, organize, develop and conduct a
comprehensive instructional tutoring program for students enrolled in the
Upward Bound Program.
- Experience working with minority and disadvantaged
students at the middle school, high school or post-secondary level.
- At
the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be
exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the
university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically
preparing the candidate for success in the position.
