Director of Master Data Governance

Position Description and Purpose:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive master data governance framework aligned with enterprise goals and ERP transformation priorities.
- Define and enforce data standards, validation rules, naming conventions, change control protocols, and approval workflows.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of data policies and procedures across key domains, including item, vendor, customer, financial, recipe/formula, and supply chain master data.

- Lead the master data cleansing initiative in preparation for the Microsoft D365 F&O ERP implementation.
- Inventory and assess legacy data sources for quality, completeness, and relevance.
- Collaborate with Finance, R&D, Operations, IT, Quality and Supply Chain to identify and remediate data quality issues.
- Work with IT to oversee the data migration strategy, mapping, and validation to ensure clean and accurate data transition into D365 F&O.
- Standardize formats, remove duplicates, enrich missing attributes, and purge obsolete records.
- Support incremental activation of AI capabilities within D365 F&O and other systems by ensuring foundational data integrity.

- Establish internal controls to ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and auditability.
- Partner with Finance, R&D, Supply Chain, Operations, Quality and IT to embed governance into business processes and ERP workflows.
- Ensure master data controls support applicable regulatory, food safety, customer, financial reporting, privacy, and audit requirements.

- Define and track KPIs for data quality, including completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness, duplicate records, missing attributes, and aging of unresolved data issues.
- Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the VP of Finance and executive leadership.
- Use Microsoft and ERP-enabled tools, such as D365 F&O reporting, Microsoft Purview, Profisee, Power BI, or Azure Data Factory, to support data lineage, cataloging, cleansing, transformation, and visibility.

- Manage a team of three data clerks responsible for master data maintenance, data entry accuracy, routine data updates, and issue resolution.
- Build and lead a cross-functional network of data owners, data stewards, and analysts across Finance, R&D, Supply Chain, Operations, and IT.
- Serve as the primary liaison between business units and IT for master data governance, cleansing, ERP readiness, and post-go-live data quality processes.
- Drive data literacy, accountability, and change management across the organization.

- When applicable, support acquisition integration by assessing acquired business data quality and applying Roskam's master data standards to key domains such as item, vendor, customer, financial, recipe/formula, quality, and supply chain data.
- Partner with Finance, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, R&D, and IT to identify data gaps, duplicate records, and standardization needs that could affect reporting, controls, operations, or ERP integration.

This role will have authority to define master data standards, establish required data governance processes, escalate unresolved data quality issues, and require business functions to assign accountable data owners and stewards. The Director will not replace functional ownership of data but will provide the governance structure, controls, and visibility needed to ensure each function maintains accurate, complete, and ERP-ready master data.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Data Management, or related field; Master's preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in data governance, master data management, ERP data migration, business process ownership, or enterprise data stewardship.
• Proven experience leading data governance and cleansing programs in manufacturing, food manufacturing, CPG, or complex multi-site environments.
• Strong understanding of ERP systems, preferably Microsoft D365 F&O, and data management, reporting, and workflow tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence senior stakeholders, and drive accountability without direct authority.
• Excellent analytical, communication, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Experience supporting ERP implementations, data migration strategies, and post-go-live data governance processes.
• Familiarity with financial reporting structures, food manufacturing requirements, regulatory compliance, and audit expectations.
• Ability to translate complex data issues into practical business decisions, executive reporting, and measurable improvement plans.
• Experience building data governance programs from the ground up in a growing or transforming organization.
