Apparel Designer

We are seeking an experienced Apparel Designer to join a collaborative, fast-paced design team in a temp-to-hire opportunity. This position is ideal for a well-rounded designer who combines strong creative instincts with the technical expertise to independently move product through the design and development process.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator and highly organized designer with strong sketching abilities and hands-on experience across fleece, knits, sport, and swimwear. This individual must be comfortable independently leading fittings, developing detailed tech packs, and partnering cross-functionally to bring designs from initial concept through execution.

A portfolio or relevant samples of work are required for consideration.

Key Responsibilities

• Create original apparel concepts incorporating style, silhouette, color, fabric, and seasonal trends.
• Research and interpret fashion and market trends to develop relevant, commercially appropriate product concepts.
• Produce strong sketches that clearly communicate design direction, construction, proportion, and product details.
• Design product across fleece, knits, sport, and swimwear categories.
• Independently create and develop detailed tech packs to communicate product specifications and design intent.
• Lead fittings independently, assess garment fit and construction, and communicate clear revisions and recommendations.
• Provide fit, proportion, body block, and construction guidance throughout development.
• Partner closely with technical design, sourcing, materials/fabric development, product development, and other cross-functional teams.
• Participate in seasonal design reviews, fittings, and presentations as needed.
• Maintain strong organization across multiple styles, deadlines, samples, revisions, and development milestones.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external partners throughout the product development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in apparel/fashion design.
• Required design experience across fleece, knits, sport, and swimwear.
• Strong hand and/or digital sketching skills.
• Demonstrated expertise developing comprehensive tech packs.
• Proven ability to independently lead apparel fittings and provide actionable fit and construction direction.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, fabrication, materials, color, and silhouette.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple products and priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven design environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Portfolio Requirement

All candidates must provide a portfolio or relevant samples of work to be considered.

Samples should demonstrate strong apparel design and sketching capabilities, with relevant work across fleece, knits, sport, and swimwear strongly represented.

Opportunity

This is a temp-to-hire position, offering the opportunity to initially join the team on a contract basis with the potential to transition into a permanent role.
