Acara Solutions is seeking an Instrument & Electrical Field Engineer to support instrumentation, automation, electrical systems, and process control equipment at a chemical manufacturing facility in Casa Grande, AZ.
This is a hands-on field engineering position focused primarily on instrumentation, sensors, automation and process control systems. The engineer will work with engineering teams, vendors, contractors, technicians, and plant operations to support equipment installation, troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
About the Opportunity:
  • Review engineering designs, instrument specifications, P&IDs, equipment drawings, and control system documentation.
  • Support the selection, procurement, installation, and commissioning of instrumentation, sensors, transmitters, and automation equipment.
  • Work with vendors and contractors to resolve technical issues and ensure equipment and installations meet engineering requirements.
  • Perform field inspections and verify that instrumentation and electrical installations comply with approved designs, specifications, codes, and safety requirements.
  • Test and troubleshoot instrumentation and control equipment, including flow, pressure, temperature, level, pH, and conductivity transmitters.
  • Support PLC/DCS process control systems, with an emphasis on instrumentation, sensors, control loops, and field devices rather than software programming.
  • Perform field testing such as loop checks, grounding tests, insulation/megger testing, instrument calibration, and parameter verification.
  • Support startup and commissioning of new instrumentation, electrical equipment, and automated process systems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and instrumentation issues during plant operations and coordinate repairs to minimize manufacturing downtime.
  • Develop and support preventive maintenance and reliability programs for critical instrumentation and electrical equipment.
  • Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Piping, Civil, Procurement, vendors, and contractors.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, equipment specifications, test records, construction reports, and other required project documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement, reliability, safety, and new capital projects involving instrumentation and automation.

Job Requirements
What You'll Bring:
  • 2 years minimum experience in instrumentation, electrical, controls, or automation engineering within a chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, refinery, semiconductor, or similar process manufacturing environment.
What Sets You Apart:
  • Hands-on experience with industrial instrumentation and sensors, including flow, pressure, temperature, level, pH, or conductivity.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings, P&IDs, instrument specifications, and vendor documentation.
  • Experience supporting PLC or DCS environments and automation/process control systems.
  • Experience with field inspections, equipment testing, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, or maintenance.
  • Experience working with vendors, contractors, technicians, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Understanding of electrical and process safety requirements in an industrial manufacturing environment.
