Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports, serve as Rec Sports and Adaptive Recreation Coordinator, with direct oversight of the Rec Sports (Intramural) and Adaptive Recreation program within the Department of Campus Recreation. Manage a diverse recreational program with up to 40 Recreational Sports activities serving more than 9,000 participants. Develop quarterly adaptive programs, expanding outreach to underserved groups on campus. Support staff in adapting existing and new programs and services to provide inclusive opportunities. Manage and oversee all aspects of the programs including program management, staff supervision, risk management, student development, and facility management.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in Sport/Recreation Management, Higher Education, or other related area and/or equivalent experience or training.
  • Experience developing sports programming in a university, municipal, non-profit, or private setting, including event management and supervision.
  • Experience officiating and/or training sports officials.
  • Experience with safety and risk practices as they relate to event and facilities management for recreational and competitive sports in both indoor and outdoor facilities/locations.
  • Leadership and supervisory experience to select, supervise, motivate, and evaluate student employees relative to work performance, crisis management and peer relationships.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and varied organizational levels within and outside of the University and to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Organizational skills to prioritize workload and meet work assignments, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in educational administration, recreation or sport management or a related field.
  • Experience in a collegiate recreation setting.
  • Experience officiating or training sports officials at the high school and/or collegiate level
  • Knowledge of student development principles, and ability to provide student development opportunities for all student staff.
  • Computer and software skills in the use of Fusion, Fusion IM/Fusion Play, Fusion GO app, Microsoft Suite (word, excel, etc.) and Google Suite (docs, excel). Oral and written communication skills to prepare concise, yet comprehensive presentations before small and large audiences.
  • Knowledge if therapeutic and/or adaptive recreation programming principles.

Campus Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellness, and recreation programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the following units: Member Services, Living Well, Recreation Sports, Sports Clubs, Equestrian Center, Craft Center, Aquatics, Youth Programs, Outdoor Adventure, and the UC Davis Marching Band. Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
