What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the launch and ramp of production for Optimus humanoid robot hands, one of the most complex and critical subsystems in the robot. In this role you will lead installation, commissioning, and ramp of production lines for Optimus hands. You will own the factory production line and work with Production teams to achieve target rate and yield.

What You'll Do
  • Execute FAT, install, and site commissioning of automated assembly lines
  • Communicate and drive product design improvements that enable high manufacturing throughput
  • Own the factory production line and drive performance to rate and quality targets
  • Collaborate with factory production teams to ramp output and resolve issues in real time
  • Optimize cycle time line balance and process parameters during ramp
  • Manage equipment suppliers and integrators through installation and acceptance testing
  • Implement continuous improvements to sustain and increase line throughput
  • Document commissioning results validation reports and ramp metrics

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years launching and ramping automated production lines for complex electro-mechanical products
  • Experience with FAT, installation, and site commissioning of manufacturing equipment
  • Strong track record owning factory production lines and hitting rate targets
  • Proficiency in process optimization line balancing and root cause analysis
  • Experience working directly with production teams in high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Project leadership skills managing cross-functional teams and suppliers during launch
  • Travel up to 35% to Tesla factories and automation vendors

    Expected Compensation
    $130,400 - $276,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
