What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a qualified Associate Controls Engineer to join our factory paint plastics engineering team in Austin, TX. You will play a pivotal role in the design of complex manufacturing facilities. This role requires a highly organized mindset, a passion for driving multi-disciplinary projects, and an unparalleled ability to consistently perform at a high level.

What You'll Do
  • Application based selection of Instruments and Control devices required to operate and optimize complex mechanical andpaint process systems. These systems include ovens, air supply units,paint automation cells,conveyors, andnetwork systems
  • Coverproduction downtime activities and permanent solutions through controls projects
  • Work with vendors and contractors to review designs and ensure that they meet Tesla quality and documentation standards
  • Participate in development of scalable network architectures for plant wide high reliability control systems
  • Work closely with HMI developers and programmers to optimize data exchange and enhance system usability
  • SCADA system development to optimize production and maintenanceefficiency
  • PLC programmingcapable of permanent engineering improvements

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in an Engineering field, or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience as a hands-on Controls Engineer or Instrumentation Engineer, Applications Engineer working on automation and/or electromechanical systems
  • Ability to revieweplans, process andmechanicaldrawings to properlysimulate and install equipment needed at coatings shops
  • Familiarity withPaint controls systems
  • Configuration of controls networks including, Ethernet/IP,Profinetand Serial Communication
  • Knowledge of industrial process and manufacturing equipment, including safetysystem. Should be proficient in Siemens, Allen Bradly, or Beckhoff
  • Ability to work underpressure whilemaintainingcontrols standards
