THIS ROLE

St. Michael's is hiring a Journeyman Financial Management Analyst to support a Department of War (DoW) client. In this role, you will provide high-level compliance and risk management oversight, serving as an advisor and evaluator for the travel program.

You will work with the USSOCOM Travel Oversight and Compliance Branch to provide analytical support, advice, and assistance in the oversight and management of the USSOCOM Travel Programs. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting internal assessments, Staff Assistance Visits (SAVs), and compliance inspections across the SOF Enterprise. We are looking for adaptable, highly analytical researchers who can identify program gaps, draft corrective Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and assist in building out compliance and control initiatives to ensure program integrity.

WHO YOU ARE



  • Active Top-Secret Clearance (with ability to obtain SCI).
  • Advisory & Evaluator Mindset: You excel in analytical and auditing environments where you evaluate travel program processes and recommend systemic improvements.
  • Natural Researcher & Analyst: You have a proven ability to perform deep regulatory research, identify compliance gaps (such as travel program deficiencies), and help establish corrective programs.
  • Audit & Review Background: 5 or more years of experience conducting compliance audits, program reviews, or quality assurance assessments specifically within DoW travel programs (inclusive of DTS and GTCC).
  • Exceptional Technical Writer: You can draft clear Command-level policy memorandums, brief decks, information papers, and SOPs from scratch.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Assist in the conduct of travel program inspections, investigations, Staff Assistance Visits (SAVs), and internal control reviews to identify program gaps and establish corrective programs.
  • Support DoW Audit activities, DoW Payment Integrity and Improper Payment Program reviews, and Command Risk Management and Internal Control (RMIC) activities.
  • Assist with the development of command-level policy, procedures, and processes to support compliance, including command policy memorandums, briefs, standard operating procedures, regulations, directives, and training materials.
  • Provide expert technical guidance, advice, and assistance to HQs and Enterprise Component Travel Program Managers, including developing and conducting initial and sustainment training.
