Role Overview

Position: Head of Grants Management
Department: Philanthropy

Reports to: Director of Operations & Special Projects

Location: Colorado with frequent travel to Denver and Boulder

About the Position

This role leads grants management operations through process design, and compliance execution. The position is responsible for ensuring that grantmaking activities are efficient, well documented, and aligned with regulatory requirements and organizational priorities.

The role supports cross functional coordination, and drives continuous improvement across systems, reporting, and workflows. It also serves as a subject matter resource on grantmaking compliance and contributes to strategic and operational initiatives.

This position is well suited for an experienced grants management professional who can balance team leadership, operational execution, and process improvement in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Team Learning and Development

    Support consistent execution of grants management standards and practices in collaboration with cross functional teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams regarding onboarding and training related to grants processes, policies, and compliance requirements.

Grants Operations and Compliance

  • Oversee grants management processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to IRS regulations and applicable federal and state laws governing grantmaking.
  • Serve as a resource on compliance requirements and grantmaking regulations.
  • Maintain and oversee documentation, policies, and grantmaking tools and templates.

Process Improvement and Systems

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts across grants management processes and workflows.
  • Inform and support implementation of system and reporting requirements related to grantmaking and contracting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, data quality, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support enhancements to grants management systems and tools.

Data, Reporting, and Analysis

  • Partner with cross functional teams to collect, analyze, and report on grants and charitable activity data.
  • Support development and maintenance of reporting frameworks and dashboards.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems and reporting outputs

Project and Cross Functional Coordination

  • Manage projects aligned with team goals and organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across legal, finance, program, and operations teams.
  • Support alignment of grants management activities with broader organizational initiatives.

Who we are looking for

Qualifications required for success

  • At least 5 years of experience in grants management with strong knowledge of compliance, processes, and financial considerations
  • At least 2 years of experience managing and developing staff
  • Strong knowledge of IRS rules and regulations governing private foundation grantmaking
  • Experience with grants management systems, data tracking, and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills

Benefits Information

Compensation Range : $110,000.00 - $137,000.00
