The Expense Audit & Compliance Analyst is responsible for reviewing and auditing employee expense reports and corporate card transactions to ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and financial governance standards. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to independently evaluate transactions, identify exceptions, and support expense management processes in a high-volume environment.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in expense auditing, accounts payable, corporate card programs, or financial analysis, along with strong Excel skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Audit employee expense reports for compliance with company travel, entertainment, gift, and expense policies.
  • Review corporate card and purchase card transactions to ensure appropriate business use and policy adherence.
  • Validate receipts, supporting documentation, business purpose, and transaction accuracy.
  • Identify policy violations, potential fraud risks, duplicate expenses, and non-compliant transactions.
  • Investigate discrepancies and work directly with employees to resolve issues.
  • Analyze spending trends and identify opportunities for improved compliance and process efficiency.
  • Monitor aged transactions and follow up on outstanding items requiring resolution.
  • Perform account reconciliations and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
  • Support month-end activities and ad hoc financial reporting requests.
  • Assist with corporate card program administration, including account setup and maintenance.
  • Educate employees on expense policies and proper expense reporting procedures.
  • Support internal and external audit requests by providing documentation and analysis.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives and updates to standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with finance, accounting, and business stakeholders to resolve expense-related inquiries.


Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 1-3 years of experience in expense auditing, accounts payable, corporate card administration, financial analysis, or a related function.
  • Strong understanding of expense policies, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and analysis of large datasets.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret policies and make sound audit decisions independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.


Work Experience



  • Experience auditing employee expense reports and corporate card transactions preferred.
  • Experience with Accounts Payable, expense management, or financial operations preferred.
  • Experience working in a high-volume transaction review environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting compliance, audit, or financial control processes preferred.


Additional Job Details



  • Work Arrangement: Fully Remote
  • Schedule: Flexible business hours, generally aligned with Eastern Time (approximately 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
  • Heavy use of Microsoft Excel and expense management systems
  • Tools may include Oracle Expense Management, Bank of America Works, Concur, AppZen, or similar expense platforms
