Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and integrity of production and facility equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement activities. This role performs mechanical and electrical maintenance on manufacturing equipment, supports equipment changeovers and startups, and works to minimize unplanned downtime while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Job Responsibilities



  • Perform preventive maintenance activities on production equipment and facility systems to reduce unplanned downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and determine corrective actions using technical documentation, schematics, and operating procedures.
  • Inspect, test, and operate machinery and equipment to verify repairs and ensure proper functionality.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on motors, instrumentation, electrical distribution systems, feed control systems, and related plant equipment.
  • Support equipment changeovers, line startups, and production operations by resolving technical issues as they arise.
  • Complete assigned maintenance work orders accurately and within established timelines.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records, work orders, and equipment logs using computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Identify required replacement parts and assist with inventory management and reorder activities.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and operations teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide recommendations to enhance equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with established quality standards.
  • Follow all safety, food safety, quality, GMP, OSHA, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience performing mechanical and electrical maintenance in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and repair equipment failures.
  • Experience maintaining PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems.
  • Knowledge of motors, electrical systems, instrumentation, controls, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and electrical drawings.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance systems.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.


Education



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training, vocational certification, or related maintenance education preferred.


Work Experience



  • Experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment preferred.


Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)



  • Ability to lift and move 50-80 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights using lifts and fall protection equipment when required.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments, including oils, greases, coolants, heat, humidity, vibration, and industrial machinery.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be available to work assigned shifts, overtime, and weekends as required.
