Job Summary

The Class B Delivery Driver is responsible for safely transporting materials to customer locations while providing excellent customer service and maintaining compliance with all transportation and safety regulations. This role primarily involves operating a 26-foot automatic flatbed truck, making local deliveries, verifying delivery documentation, and assisting with warehouse operations as needed. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, customer-oriented, and comfortable navigating city routes and tight delivery locations.

Job Responsibilities



  • Safely operate a Class B commercial vehicle to deliver materials to customer locations.
  • Transport and deliver materials according to established schedules and delivery requirements.
  • Verify delivery routes and directions to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Load, unload, or assist with unloading materials at delivery sites as required.
  • Ensure all materials are properly secured and transported within legal weight limits.
  • Obtain customer signatures and maintain accurate delivery documentation.
  • Verify all delivered materials have been unloaded and properly placed at customer locations.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding delivery status, delays, and operational updates.
  • Process customer returns and verify returned materials match approved documentation.
  • Pick up purchase orders and return required paperwork and packing lists.
  • Review completed deliveries with management to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Return all delivery documentation and records at the end of each shift.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Fuel vehicles as needed and report maintenance concerns, defects, accidents, or moving violations promptly.
  • Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and provide outstanding customer service during all customer interactions.
  • Assist with warehouse operations and material handling when delivery responsibilities are completed.
  • Support company initiatives, operational goals, and workplace safety programs.
  • Work overtime as required to support business needs.


Job Requirements



  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
  • Must possess the required state-issued self-certification designation of non-excepted interstate status and provide proof.
  • Minimum of one year of Class B commercial driving experience required.
  • Must have held a CDL for a minimum of one year.
  • Experience operating a 26-foot flatbed truck preferred.
  • Ability to safely drive in urban environments, including tight spaces and congested areas.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Comfortable interacting directly with customers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to use smartphones and mobile technology for communication and job-related tasks.
  • Comfortable working in vehicles equipped with onboard camera systems.
  • Strong attention to safety, detail, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials as required.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.


Education



  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.


Work Experience



  • Minimum of one year of Class B commercial driving experience required.
  • Experience operating flatbed trucks preferred.
  • Delivery driving experience in customer-facing environments preferred.
  • Warehouse or material handling experience preferred.
