Primary Purpose of the Position
Faculty in the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Sport Studies at Winston-Salem State University invite applications for a 1-year appointment as a Lecturer in Sport Management.
This position will begin in August 2026.
We seek exceptional candidates with a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching as well as mentoring and coaching students inside and outside the classroom.

Department Required Skills
We seek exceptional candidates who demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching Sport Management courses to undergraduate students from all backgrounds. The following qualifications and skills are required for this position:



  • Applicants must have a masters or doctorate degree in Sport Management or a related discipline from a regionally accredited four-year institution of higher education.
  • Must provide evidence of mentoring students with a focus in Sport Management.
  • Must demonstrate experience in the sport industry and an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance curricular and co-curricular programs.
  • Must illustrate commitment to their professional growth and development via engagement in professional organizations and professional conferences.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Faculty in the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Sport Studies prefer candidates who:



  • Have experience teaching and enhancing curriculum.
  • Have experience in program assessment.
  • Have leadership experience within professional organizations.

Describe the specific job duties related to this competency
We seek a committed and engaged faculty member who will perform specific duties at a high level. These duties include, but are not limited to the following:


Teaching and Mentoring

  • The successful candidate will teach Sport Management courses primarily face-to-face, but should have the ability to teach in online and hybrid formats.
  • The successful candidate must construct detailed course syllabi.
  • The ideal candidate will facilitate high-quality, engaging instruction.
  • The ideal candidate will leverage various technologies (e.g., Canvas, EAB Navigate) to communicate regularly with students, monitor student progress, and provide feedback on student success outcomes.
  • The successful candidate must engage with students during mandatory office hours each week.
  • The ideal candidate will work collaboratively to enhance the strengths of our Sport Management curricular and co-curricular programs.
