Job Description: Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for an Assembly Technician to join our Operations department based in Kinston, NC. Meet the Team: Your Working Environment: How We Care for You:
Your Challenges: Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as modules, boards, panels, drawers, frames, and cables. * Works from diagrams and drawings, makes initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws. * Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed. May conduct quality inspections on processing lines in accordance with quality specifications. * May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and sub-assemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions. The Company will provide appropriate assistance in job training to enable employees to perform all necessary job functions including the following: * Work with blueprints, changes, specifications, work orders, etc. to assemble and install to quality requirements parts and assemblies. * Complete required data gathering transactions to facilitate assembly progression. * Setup and perform all manual and automated assembly operations, and portable machine functions required to accomplish assignments. * Perform any and all required pickup, rework, fabrication, change in corporation, functional testing or check during or after final assembly and/or assembly progression * Move and/or obtain correct parts, materials, tools, assemblies, etc. * Use precision measuring instruments required to accomplish work assignments. * Report and/or investigate job handicaps such as: errors in parts, assembly procedures, tools, sequences, etc. * Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of their daily work duties (e.g., where applicable, replacing machine filters, changing standard light bulbs on machines and equipment, maintaining lubrication/coolant levels, etc. as related to basic Total Preventative Maintenance duties). * Routinely move product within the immediate manufacturing work area, including across isle, using shop assigned equipment as required, and complete transactions necessary to move product to the next operation. On an exception basis, move product to the next operation within a building. * Support the continuous flow of product within the manufacturing process by training, coaching and assisting other employees. * Document any discrepancies according to specification, process, and procedure. * Trains to become MVP qualified. * In addition, each employee may be asked, on occasion, to complete other duties and responsibilities as required by leadership. Training and certification will be provided for the additional work when required. Additional Responsibilities: * Other duties as assigned. Qualified Experience and Training: Required * 2 years' minimum experience in aviation production or equivalent * Previous experience with drilling tools, templates, drilling machines, fasteners, and torquing tools * Must be able and willing to work any shift to include working overtime as needed Preferred * 5+ years minimum experience in aviation production Your Boarding Pass Education: Required * High School Diploma/GED or Work Keys Assessment completion * The ability to successfully complete the following training provided by Airbus after recruitment: o Health & Safety o General aircraft familiarization o Quality Training Preferred * Training from a vocational school or previous employer in the use of application tools and in application techniques Experience: Licensure/Certifications: Travel Required: Citizenship: * Authorized to work in the U.S. Clearance: * N/A Qualified Skills: Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities: Required * Knowledge of station safety, quality (clean as you go / Foreign Object Debris) and OSHA regulations * Must have basic skills of using a variety of tools Organizational information: Communication Skills: Required * Good verbal and written communication skills in English. * Ability to articulate complex issues to others. * Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters is essential. * Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal skills. Preferred Technical Systems Proficiency: * Able to enter, generate and retrieve information using a computer (SAP and Excel knowledge required) Complexity of the Role: Level of Decision Making: Direct Reports: Is this a people manager? * No Job Dimensions: Nature of Contacts: * Moderate communication on a regular basis with internal and external parties at all levels Physical Requirements: Onsite: 100 % * Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. * Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. * Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. * Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. * Carrying: Weekly able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. * Lifting: Weekly able to lift documents, tools, drawings, and electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. * Pushing / Pulling: Weekly able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. * Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. * Squatting / Kneeling: Weekly able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. * Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. * Travel: 5% able to travel independently and at short notice. * Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. * Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site. * Must not be afraid of heights and can work on elevated platforms as high as 40 feet in the air. * PPE required: Safety glasses, bump caps and safety-toed shoes must be worn on manufacturing floor Take your career to a new level and apply online now!
