At Ports America, the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) System Manager is responsible for the configuration, data governance, continuous improvement, KPI development, KPI reporting, training, best practice creation and administration of the Ports America EAM platform. This role serves as the primary business and technical resource for maintaining asset data integrity, supporting our maintenance, procurement and operations teams. The EAM System Manager will lead system enhancements, develop reports, tools and dashboards, and ensure the EAM system effectively supports asset lifecycle management, maintenance planning, reliability improvement, effective procurement processes, spares inventory, cost accounting, and regulatory compliance. The EAM System Manager position works closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, IT, Procurement, and Finance to maximize the value of the EAM system and ensure accurate, reliable asset information across the enterprise.

This position is nationwide. Ports America will consider qualified candidates located near, or willing to work from, any Ports America terminal or office location across our network.

Essential Duties:



  • Follows and enforces all safety policies and procedures including use of safety equipment (PPE) and equipment safeguards; Works to advance and promote the safety culture of Ports America
  • Act as the business owner, transformation leader and subject matter expert within Ports America for the continuous development and implementation of our EAM system. Provide guidance, direction, training, troubleshooting and support to consistently improve our EAM system and its use.
  • Establish a comprehensive understanding of the Ports America EAM software and how to optimize its use as the foundation for all asset management, maintenance and improvement activities.
  • Responsible for integration of all 3rd party interfaces and remote telemetry applications into the EAM to secure needed machine data enhance predictive maintenance capabilities and optimize our user effectiveness.
  • Maintain consistent setup and use of the EAM system and its interfaces including; preventative and predictive maintenance analytics, maintenance planning, maintenance scheduling, spare parts strategies, and training of site maintenance personnel.
  • Configure maintain, and continuously improve system structures including, asset naming conventions, taxonomy, data standards, asset attributes and hierarchies, functional locations, equipment records, asset classifications, PM and repair records, user roles and permission.
  • Establish metrics and reporting from our EAM, Power BI and other analytic systems to proactively report developing trends and provide visibility of asset reliability, efficiency and performance (e.g., OEE, % unplanned downtime, mean-time between failures, PM compliance, TCO, spend vs budget, etc.). Lead monthly reviews of all locations to drive continuous improvement.
  • Works in conjunction with the Head of Engineering to provide strategic and tactical leadership for the EAM program development and deployment, integrating the EAM system to deliver measurable results across all Ports America locations.
  • Coach, mentor, train and develop maintenance leaders on the effective use of EAM data to meet current and future business requirements.
  • Develop a close working relationship with the operations, maintenance, IT, Procurement and Finance teams, ensuring timely and meaningful support.
  • Work closely with IT Dept regarding deployment, troubleshooting and improvements to EAM, analytic and telemetry systems.
  • Create and maintain system documents, standard configurations, workflows, and administrative procedures.
  • Ensure the EAM system drives maintenance processes to incorporate and document compliance with Health Safety & Sustainability requirements including emission output, management of change documentation and mechanical integrity documented inspections.
  • Ensure all corporate policies are followed as well as compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines/rules while carrying out maintenance functions.
  • Partner with Ports America's Procurement group to leverage spend.
  • Develop and implement standard documentation procedures as applicable.
  • Travel: Up to 50% as dictated by business needs
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience within a maintenance organization.


    • A combination of experience and education will be considered.


  • 3+ years of experience working directly within or managing an EAM system.
  • Experience working on/in a ship, terminal yard, crane, area buildings and terminal equipment.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience managing container handling equipment.
  • Experience developing and implementing reliability improvements across multiple machine types.
  • Detailed knowledge of standard maintenance practices, process design, equipment repair, mechanical design, construction methods and their practical application.
  • Experience working with Mainpac EAM.
  • Experience working with SQL, database management, Power BI or similar systems
  • Proven track record in a cross functional team environment including experience influencing others outside of direct reports.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as effective presentation skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally within all levels of the organization.

  • Frequent sitting, occasional standing and walking.
  • Some environments may be hazardous to persons unable to see or hear fast moving heavy equipment.
