Senior Director, Rare Epilepsy HCP & Payer Marketing

Bexicaserin is an investigational therapy that has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathies (DEEs) or any indication. Additional research and information are needed to fully evaluate its safety and efficacy.


SUMMARY:

The Senior Director, Rare Epilepsy HCP & Payer Marketing, through practical and visionary leadership, is responsible for leading the overall Neuro Rare Epilepsy HCP marketing strategy and developing integrated commercialization initiatives to support successful launch readiness, market shaping, and long-term business growth. This role leads HCP personal, payer-related, non-personal, and omnichannel marketing efforts across the Rare Epilepsy portfolio, with a strong focus on disease-state education, customer engagement, and improving the patient and caregiver experience within rare and specialty neurological diseases.

The Senior Director works closely with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Support Services, Sales Leadership, Patient Advocacy, Analytics, and Commercial Operations to deliver integrated HCP educational experiences and customer engagement strategies that foster understanding of the patient journey and encourage informed clinical decision-making within Neuro Rare disease states. This individual also partners with Market Access leadership to formulate payer strategy and approach. This leader drives high-impact HCP and payer engagement strategies grounded in a deep understanding of the patient journey, specialty/rare access landscape, referral pathways, and the evolving Rare Epilepsy ecosystem.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Vision and Strategic Leadership


  • Lead the development and execution of US Rare Epilepsy HCP marketing strategy in partnership with key cross-functional leaders. Responsible for Onfi, Sabril, and bexicaserin (pipeline product).
  • Drive launch readiness, market shaping, disease-state education, and customer engagement initiatives across the Rare Epilepsy portfolio.
  • Ensure alignment of HCP brand positioning, customer segmentation, messaging, and business objectives across the organization.
  • Partner with Market Access to create and refine payer strategy and approaches.
  • Develop HCP and payer-focused strategies informed by the patient, caregiver, and provider journey.
  • Lead HCP educational initiatives that support disease awareness, diagnosis, and appropriate treatment adoption.
  • Oversee integrated go-to-market planning, omnichannel engagement, and field readiness initiatives.
  • Leverage market insights, analytics, competitive intelligence, and field feedback to optimize strategy and execution.
  • Partner with global colleagues to align marketing activities as appropriate.
  • Partner closely with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Sales, Patient Advocacy, and Analytics to support successful commercialization and long-term growth.
  • Build relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), centers of excellence, advocacy organizations, payers, and specialty providers.

Marketing Capabilities and Processes


  • Oversee HCP personal, payer-related, non-personal, and omnichannel marketing strategy and execution across the portfolio.
  • Drive integrated customer engagement strategies tailored to specialty neurology and rare epilepsy audiences, including Centers of Excellence (COEs).
  • Support payer education, referral pathways, and customer access initiatives in partnership with Market Access teams.
  • Apply customer insights and analytics to optimize HCP engagement and business performance.
  • Ensure alignment and execution across cross-functional teams, agency partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Support annual brand planning, launch preparedness, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Work with cross-functional partners to ensure all HCP marketing materials and campaigns comply with healthcare regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Driven to build a best-in-class marketing organization.


Leader of People


  • Serve as a member of BU Senior Leadership team.
  • Collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders, including key senior leaders across the organization, to represent and align BU marketing priorities and strategy.
  • Collaborate across the extended brand team and key cross-functional partners to drive strategic priorities and execution.
  • Appropriately influence and aligning stakeholders across Commercial, Medical, Market Access, and Sales organizations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Support organizational capability building to enable launch excellence and long-term portfolio growth.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:


  • 10+ years of biopharmaceutical commercial experience (i.e., sales, marketing, or market access)
  • 8+ years of brand marketing experience including HCP marketing, payer marketing, omnichannel strategy, digital marketing, and commercialization planning.
  • Previous people leadership/management experience.
  • Proven expertise in strategic HCP marketing, customer engagement, launch planning, disease-state education, payer marketing, and commercialization strategy.
  • Experience collaborating with Market Access and payer-related initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Enterprise mindset focused on delivering measurable and sustainable business outcomes.
  • Strong communication, relationship management, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across the organization and drive business growth.
  • Strong project management, strategic planning, and execution capabilities.
  • Strong executive presence and presentation skills.


PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCEand SKILLS:


  • Accredited MBA or master's degree.
  • Experience in Neuro Rare, rare disease, epilepsy, neurology, or specialty pharmaceutical marketing.
  • Experience supporting successful product launch and pre-launch market development initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of the patient, caregiver, HCP, and payer experience within rare and specialty disease states.
  • Experience developing disease-state education and customer engagement strategies.
  • Experience leading HCP education or peer-to-peer engagement initiatives within specialty or rare disease therapeutic areas.
  • Understanding of specialty access pathways, referral networks, and complex treatment landscapes.

TRAVEL


  • Willingness/Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time is required. Travel is primarily domestic, but occasional international travel is required.
  • If based remotely, additional travel will be required to Deerfield, IL, to meet the needs of the role and the business.



The range displayed is a national range, and if selected for this role, may vary based onvarious factorssuch as the candidate's geographical location, qualifications, skills,competencies,andproficiencyfor the role.Salary Pay Range:$280,000 - $315,000andeligibilityfor a 30%bonustargetbased on company and individual performance, and eligibility toparticipatein the company's long-term incentive plan.
