We are seeking a Systems Engineer III to support our New River team at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS). The ideal candidate will Performs a variety of complex project tasks applied to specialized technology problems. Tasks involve integration of electronic processes or methodologies to resolve total system problems or technology problems. Applies analytical and systematic approaches in the resolution of problems of work flow, organization, and planning. Directs and assists system engineers in the application of system engineering principles to the solution of secure systems design problems. Expert knowledge of LANs, WANs, VPNs, routers, firewalls, network protocols, and other security and network operations and monitoring, vulnerability analysis, PKI, data encryption, key management, data warehousing, and data mining capabilities. This role requires in-person support.

Duties:



  • Execute system administration, database support, and cybersecurity compliance in a multiuser environment
  • Tasks require deploying Windows operating systems, enforcing DoD Information Assurance (IAVA/IAVB) patch management, maintaining DISA STIG compliance using DoD Cyber Exchange STIG Tools, and analyzing vulnerabilities with ACAS scanning solutions.
  • Install & Configure: Deploy Windows Server and Client operating systems via local installation media.
  • System Requirements: Document organizational constraints and infrastructure sizing parameters.
  • Server Support: Server administration and software hosting for multiuser environments.
  • Coordination: Act in tandem with the designated Information System Security Manager (ISSM) to align system operations with cybersecurity objectives.
  • Patch Management: Maintain compliance with DoD Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts and Bulletins (IAVA, IAVB) by applying system and software patches.
  • Backup & Recovery: Architect, test, and maintain automated system backup and recovery routines to prevent data loss.
  • Software Lifecycle: Sustain production applications, upgrade third-party software, and troubleshoot hardware/software connectivity issues.
  • Log Management: Monitor system health reports and review event logs in real-time to identify anomalies or potential outages.
  • STIG Compliance: Identify system misconfigurations against Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) baseline policies DoD Cyber Exchange STIG Tools
  • STIG Viewer Application: Utilize the DoD Cyber Exchange STIG Tools.
  • Examine requirement XCCDF files, mark checklist findings (Open/Closed/Not Applicable), and output checklist records.
  • Vulnerability Scanning: Utilize the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)-powered by Tenable Security Center and Nessus-to perform automated vulnerability scans Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) | Tenable
  • Analyze these scans to identify threats and enforce remediation.


Required Education:



  • May require a master's degree and/or Ph.D.


Required Experience:



  • At least 12 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and independently performs a wide variety of complicated tasks. May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist. May lead and direct the work of others. May report to an executive or director.


Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
